Re: Hot launch techinque with inflatable

In super light winds where my kite wont stay on its side (self launch) I reverse launch them, hot. I position them almost directly down wind where all I have to do is drag/rotate one side enough for it to be dead down wind in the power zone and pull both steering lines. Sometimes pulling while runni...

Re: Oyster foot protection

Probably have ten different pairs of 1-3mm short booties. Can't ride without them, just feels too weird now. Most comfortable: Atan Sunfast http://atan.fr/en/surfing-booties-6 But they only save your foot once if you step on something sharp. They're VERY delicate but SOOOOO comfortable. Second best ...

Re: Sealing alu strut - still a no-no?

One of my aluminum struts came sealed with some hard epoxy in it. The sealant cracked and is now letting water into the mast. I can still get most of it out by waving the mast up and down rapidly. One of these days I plan to drill it out and sealt it back up with some silicone or something that's fl...

Re: Conditioning when practicing both kitesurfing and windsurfing

One does not help the other, much. They're completely different and the only thing that's the same is the wind. Perhaps the one thing you'll get better at is feeling the wind but the skill set of one does not improve due to the other. Windsurfing is MUCH harder and takes a lot more toll on your body...

Re: lightest winds - floaters vs sinkers

I"ve been contemplating this exact thought for a while. I have a Spleene Surf Door 5'0 and a 5'7 that I'm planning to use a foil on. I would have already mounted the foil and tried it but the boards require holes to be drilled and I'm a bit reluctant to do that. I think the sinker could definitely g...

Re: Slingshot Foils 2018

Did anybody try the Converter 5'4" already? :D LOVE mine! When the wind picks up it's a very fun board. I upgraded the stock fins to the carbon/glass ones in identical size/shape and I think it lost some of it's playfullness. It just doesn't have that pop when doing top/bottom turns now. To me, it ...

Re: wetsuit alteration

You shouldn't cut your wetsuit to fit. The arms and legs are cone shaped and if you cut either they will be loose at extremities. If you do decide to taylor it, the neoprene cement is quite powerfull as it melts the neoprene to glue the pieces together. It's messy and a pain to work with though. If ...

Re: Looking for a 12 mt wave kite that turns fast, feels light and drifts. Exists?

Your point is taken, however, beyond that it seems to me that the parameters in kite design are limited. There are only so many elements that can be tweaked one way or another. Tweaking in one direction will improve certain characteristics ... but at the expense of other characteristics. So ... how...

Re: Looking for a 12 mt wave kite that turns fast, feels light and drifts. Exists?

As I've mentioned in a similar thread a while ago, most of these replies are worthless. One HAS to compare the speed of a kite to another kite. In this case, a wave kite preferably against another wave kite. Only after that could there be a consensus on which kites are faster than others. Just becau...

Re: Moving To Miami?

Having a place close to the water in FL, one worries more about a hurricane hitting it than sea level rise.
