Re: Kite won't lift to zenith (Flysurfer Warrior)

If you want to learn to kitesurf, get an inflatable kite. Ram airs like the Flysurfer you mentioned are inferior and dangerous for learning on. Apart from bridle stretching (which seems to be your problem), there are MANY other problems. Let me know if you'd like all the reasons. :pump: I would lik...

Re: Maui Winds and Rules North Shore

Nalu Kai lodge in Paia was $110/night when I was there for a week last August. Talk to Maria and tell her you're a kiter. If you're cool with driving a little each day, I would recommend this: http://honolulu.craigslist.org/mau/vac/3956520447.html Location on google maps: http://goo.gl/maps/2NuEu My...

Re: what kind of kite to buy?

I'd recommend an Ozone Zephyr. They have a huge wind range and are well-made. I have ridden mine (2010) from 8mph - 26mph (measured on a windmeter) and I just switched boards (146x46 down to a 135 then 132). I wasn't getting tea-bagged or anything crazy. If your average winds will be low to mid teen...

Re: Do all footstraps suck

I have a 2010 Slingshot Darko with the Slingshot Bolt-Ons pads and straps. The pads are *awesome*! They are super comfy, and the toe ridge helps you have good grip. Unfortunately, the 2010 straps are laced and the plastic clip used to hold the laces in place after you tighten them down *always* slip...

It's the real answer.

You'll be blown away when I tell you the real reason why some sellers insist on doing it that way.

But it's just too fascinating to post here.

Give me a call, and I'll tell you.

Re: maui(north shore) windguru

I use the Kahululi airport sensor for kite beach: http://www.ikitesurf.com/windandwhere.iws?regionID=1700 Also, some friends and I went to Maui back in August and the forecast was completely off the whole time. The forecast would say 14-18mph and it'd blow 25-35mph from from noon-sundown. We were on...

Re: top trainer kites?

HQ Hydra is a great trainer kite for sure. In my experience, it has been very durable as I've shown a few how to fly. It is easy to repair as you can get at most of the kite easily via the zipper on back to apply sailtape on both sides of the ripstop in case someone tears it. 3-line makes it safe, e...

That video is excellent. Great perspective, editing, and sick tricks! If you guys have a Fry's electronic store in your area, retractable monopods are sold there for $15-$20. All you'll need after that is the GoPro Tripod Mount ($5-$10). This is the one I purchased: http://www.frys.com/product/64867...
