Re: Kite-o-rado Snowkite Conditions

This is the lousiest start to winter in a long time. There is no snow, I mean none! A little lake froze over. East-coasters, how the heck do you do this ice kite thing???

Re: Snowkiting in the northwest of New Mexico

Hey dutchy, most years we are kiting powder by now. Touch base before your trip and I'll get you an update. I've wanted to check out Brazos too but have a hard time driving past all the good spots along the way without stopping! There are a few spots in Colorado north of Farmington with 2 hrs. Roads...

Re: Snowkiting in the northwest of New Mexico

Dutchy,
Where in NW NM? We don't have any snow yet in SW Colorado. Hopefully that will all change by February but I may need to invest in some ice skates...

I just use an old climbing harness and have no complaints about it.

Re: Looking for Advice on Winds for My 11m LEI Kite

I can't wait for winter 67 degrees out last evening and now there's 2" of white stuff in the yard wahoo! There are many threads about this topic. In short, you'll be fine with an 11m tube but more importantly, think about the surface you're on and what hard things you will end up on. You'll probably...

Re: Good luck Caribbean and South Florida

Heart goes out to everyone devastated in the Virgin Islands. Looks like Anegada will survive. Massive destruction on Tortola, Gorda, Bitter End, Necker,JVD. Wonder if Sandy Spit is gone. These are some of the most beautiful locations I've ever had the chance to water kite. The locals have a long roa...

Re: Kite-o-rado Snowkite Conditions

Mid June in the San Juans. Still some patchy snow left but maybe only north side kiting from here on out. Anyway, it still beats liquid.

Re: OR Rise or Razor for beginner

Agree completely. I love my 12m Razor but you have to "stay ahead of it". 12m Flite is amazing and will help a beginner stay upwind. Nothing wrong with a 12m Prodigy either.

Re: Kite-o-rado Snowkite Conditions

The last storm has helped to keep things covered at Lizard Head. The snow is still pretty fun. The wind today on the other hand, yikes! I am a connoisseur of junky wind and let me tell you this stuff was dog balls. One second the kite would fall out of the sky, the next second a gust would literally...
