Re: Kite-o-rado Snowkite Conditions

Zach, FTs sounds like a good mission. I've camped up there above Dotsero in the summer and remember thinking that the kite potential seems great. Pencil me in for a backcountry outing (but I don't have a sled). Cheers, Matt

Re: Advice for hill ascents/descents

Saul,
I might try to make it to skyline, but we're lucky to have good terrain right here in the San Juans. I live in Ridgway, CO.

Re: Advice for hill ascents/descents

Saul, I grew up in NW Ohio, and now I live in Colorado. So, please consider yourself invited to come out to train any time this winter, I have a crash pad for you. I did Ragnarok year before last and loved it. It was clear that a lot of people didn't know how to deal with the hills. Dropping down fr...

Anthony's not kidding! There's a bona fide base already on Grand Mesa. Pretty nice for October. So excited that liquid season is behind us. Anyone else out there got some early season treasures?

Re: Bar too far away

I can't be bothered reading the entire thread, but, in case someone hasn't mentioned it already, the answer is obvious. Save the walk or the drive to your local and get yourself a home bar. The small ones are not that expensive. Search 'home bar' on eBay. There's a nice one listed right at the mome...

Re: Prodigy??

Hey matth, I'm right there with you. 17m, 12m Flite, 12m Razor, and 9.5 Prodigy. Only downside is that the 9.5 Prodigy won't get you way upwind like the Flite. But it's really well-mannered in the weird stuff. I rode it first lap in Ragnarok last year and my right quad is still tired from pushing th...

Re: Flite 14.5 or 17?

I weigh 200# and love my 17m. Probably a lot of overlap between your 14m TS and the 14.5

Re: Kite-o-rado Snowkite Conditions

Nate,
I've got to get over to that part of the state in the next few weeks for work and always love to try a session at another spot, maybe Hoosier or whatever you recommend. I'll send you a note when I know my schedule.

Re: Kite-o-rado Snowkite Conditions

Hey Nate, nice report, that looks amazing! I'm been up there gravity skiing only. Isn't a lot of that ridge unfortunately Vasquez Peak Designated Wilderness Area?

Re: Kite-o-rado Snowkite Conditions

Hey Nate,
All the lower elevation stuff is gone. Lizard Head is down to grass at 10,200 ft. Probably got to go way high to 12k but I'll bet it's good up there. I haven't heard progress from the San Juan County plowing but Ouray County has a few jeep roads plowed up over 11k.
