Re: Bar too far away

I can't be bothered reading the entire thread, but, in case someone hasn't mentioned it already, the answer is obvious. Save the walk or the drive to your local and get yourself a home bar. The small ones are not that expensive. Search 'home bar' on eBay. There's a nice one listed right at the mome...

Re: Prodigy??

Hey matth, I'm right there with you. 17m, 12m Flite, 12m Razor, and 9.5 Prodigy. Only downside is that the 9.5 Prodigy won't get you way upwind like the Flite. But it's really well-mannered in the weird stuff. I rode it first lap in Ragnarok last year and my right quad is still tired from pushing th...

Re: Flite 14.5 or 17?

I weigh 200# and love my 17m. Probably a lot of overlap between your 14m TS and the 14.5

Re: Kite-o-rado Snowkite Conditions

Nate,
I've got to get over to that part of the state in the next few weeks for work and always love to try a session at another spot, maybe Hoosier or whatever you recommend. I'll send you a note when I know my schedule.

Re: Kite-o-rado Snowkite Conditions

Hey Nate, nice report, that looks amazing! I'm been up there gravity skiing only. Isn't a lot of that ridge unfortunately Vasquez Peak Designated Wilderness Area?

Re: Kite-o-rado Snowkite Conditions

Hey Nate,
All the lower elevation stuff is gone. Lizard Head is down to grass at 10,200 ft. Probably got to go way high to 12k but I'll bet it's good up there. I haven't heard progress from the San Juan County plowing but Ouray County has a few jeep roads plowed up over 11k.

Re: Climbing harness on the water

Me too. I snowkite full time in a climbing harness and take a climbing harness for short water kite trips as it packs smaller. Maybe the new gen kite harnesses are better but most older kite harnesses are still rudimentary. Granted, I've been hanging in a climbing harness for decades so I'm used to ...

Re: Kite-o-rado Snowkite Conditions

It's still good on RMP above 11k, and the snow is starting to go away below that. Bare grass south slopes YIKES. Here's a shot "in the tube" coming down the Putney Pipeline.

Re: best foil kite for gusty conditions

Hey edt, You may be over this thread but anyhow, I have seen guys use the smaller access kites with reasonable success in some pretty lousy wind conditions. It seems the 6 and 8 are useful tools especially on rowdy survival days. I just can't tolerate foils in junk wind but they will say it's my fly...
