Re: Stunning Kiting Video!

I didn't think it was possible for a video to be both mellow and exciting at the same time. I guess that combination results in awe! Beautiful. :D

Re: Suggestions for a smaller board?

:?: Mako 140 Wide or Mako 130 Mini, for a 70kg rider in 18kn with a 15m kite? Thanks! :bye:

(I've never had the pleasure of riding either before, but I'll definitely try to get a demo.)

Suggestions for a smaller board?

I want to get a smaller board to extend the upper range of my quiver. I don't plan on doing anything crazy or overpowered; just want a board to help me hold down the power better for a more comfortable ride. I like the notion of swapping out boards rather than swapping out kites, but I've never actu...

Thanks HAMLINDP! :thumb:

I'll take relaunchability over a swim-necessitating tangle any day. :)

It's too bad ya can't have the best of both worlds.

Re: Speed3 FDS

:( I didn't mean to sound pig-headed or anything. I also don't actually own a Flysurfer with FDS (yet! :D ), so I guess I have less credibility. You could say that I'm a fan of the concept of the FDS. You're right about doubling the projected area, but I feel like the benefits outweigh that cost. No...

Re: Speed3 FDS

I was under the impression that if you order the Deluxe Edition, you could get the FDS. At least that's what http://www.flysurfer-usa.com/home/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=12:the-deluxe-edition&catid= implies. But the main Flysurfer site seems to make an exception and limit the FDS o...

I've also been looking forward to this. :)

Toby, forget poking them. Just shake your board-off arm at them and they'll get the message!

Re: Aaron Hadlow bad looser

I thought the interview video was really well done, very stable. I think it's impossible not to be a little disappointed to lose the world championship, and even harder if you're trying to live up to the expectations generated by your previous successes. I'm happy for Kevin, but I also felt bummed f...

Re: 9m atom or 11m fuel sligshot

The fifth line is used to make it much easier to relaunch a C kite (or any kite). Since C kites don't have as much curve in their leading edge, they don't roll over as well as SLEs. The fifth line works by moving the LE closer to you, raising up the wingtips out of the water, and providing a curve t...

Re: Help!!

The typos just indicate the URGENCY of his question. :) edwin5, the conventional wisdom I've always heard is that SLE or Bow kites are more powerful for their size than C kites, because they have more projected area. The same sources estimate that a SLE has the same power as a C kite that's 2m...
