To self land in high winds I will fly the kite to edge of the window, close to the ground, as if you are landing to someone. With kite near the ground, release the safety and walk upwind. The kite does not have far to fall before landing. Walking upwind will minimize kite tumbling toward the center ...

Hey Joe, Sorry to hear of your disappointment with HQ products. Montana 11.5? Maybe you are referring to the 12.5? Certainly it is not as fast as a 9.5 Montana, but we don't often get negative feedback on the performance of these kites. No lift? Doesn't sound like a Montana. We'd be happy to inspect...

I weight about 175 lbs and can ride the 8m NEO II from low 20s (mph) into the low 30s on water with a twin tip. For my weight and riding style, I look to the 6m when the winds are in the 30s.
