Re: What can we do, to match there preformance ?

Now that looks fun and I love the first clip with the pilotless kite as it is thinking outside the box but I do think there is more potential for disaster than tethered flight with that second clip. The thing you need with speed is razor sharp control and reaction and it shown neither, not criticizi...

Re: What can we do, to match there preformance ?

I'm am totally on the fence at the moment regarding foils on boards. On one hand I think they work exceptionally on a vessel with a wide beam or out-rigger like a cat or Sail rocket for instance and even on a moth, my reservations however are regarding how sensitive and twitchy a foil would be on a ...

Re: 45.078 knots peak on a 5m Ocean Rodeo Prodigy

You went out all alone with 50K gusts ? Don't let Rickl hear about it  Who's Ricki? should I search for his posts? Am I in trouble? Although I was the only kite out I was in good company with a couple of speed windsurfers that know me and a few watching from the comfort of their vans. I don't ...

45.078 knots peak on a 5m Ocean Rodeo Prodigy

Took a chance and went out today with varied success, on one hand I managed a peak speed of 45.078 knots but with rolling waves down the speed bank and gusts just over 50 knots the 10 second averages only managed 31.817 knots. max. speed: 45.078knots 83.484km/h 100m: 36.029 knots 66.726km/h [111.2m ...

Re: Kiteboard instruction model

If that earlier IKO teaching manual is current, I must ask at what point they think it is needed to teach the student how to perform a self rescue and packdown? Surely it should be at some point during level as half of level 1 tuition takes part in the water, ideally it should be at least demonstrat...

Re: Ocean Rodeo Prodigy owners: how are you using it?

I have been using the Prodigy since recieving a demo 9.5m in November last year. I now have the 5m, 7m and 12m to go withit. I have yet to teach on the Prodigy but from my many sessions on them I know the reluanch, safety system and wind range will make them perfect for people to use. I do believe t...

Re: How to Rescue a Kite in Offshore Spot?

I recently tried this but I was at a spot where I was just in depth most of the way then down-wind about 700m was land so we were in a 3/4 enclosed bay. A lad had dislocated his shoulder and had to release. If his kite an I were heading out into the open sea I would probably had to have given up aft...

Re: Essential instructor equipment??

A lot depends on location and distance between the teaching area and base if there is a base. I always took stuff down in a large yellow dry bag and left a good bit of air in the bag when sealing it. That way it's easy to spot and if the tide does catch it then it simply floats at the waters edge. I...

Re: 54.84 knots in France

This area looks like a great spot to kite and learn to kite. Is there some reason why its not famous for kiting? It's a private owned area" Belonging to a salt producer. On top of that it's within a bird sanctuary so only for the priveliged. I had the pleasure of being in Salin De Giraud for the wo...

Re: What is the strangest thing you have kitesurfed on?

A 3' square peice of ply driftwood that happened to be at the edge of the water once. Just like a skimboard without any shape.
