Kailua Oahu in March

I’m spending a week in Kailua this month. I will be kiting at Kailua Beach Park. Planning to bring two kites and rent a board. I’m 170lbs (77kg). Anyone familiar with the winds on that part of Oahu. I know Kailua Bay is open to the trades and would like to bring an 11 & 9m, both Slingshot T3’s. The ...

Re: Advice on glassing

Rails are epoxy and micro balloons. I was considering urethane but defaulted to what was comfortable.

Re: Advice on glassing

Thank you all for the input. I think the wood frame has a lot of strength but I will beef up the deck to compensate for the vulnerability of the foam sections. I’m planning on using Peters shop vac bagging technique. I’m not ready to shell out for a vacuum pump just yet. Here are some answers to a f...

Advice on glassing

I have read a lot of great threads on this forum but have not found anything that addresses my question on how much glass to use. I have a 140 x 46 cm light wind board just about ready for glass. See the photos below. The core is two ¼” 5 ply birch plywood sheets. In order to lighten it up I took ou...

Plywood sandwich rocker spring back

I am planning to laminate 2 6mm pieces of Baltic Birch plywood together on a rocker table. I want to net 1” of continuous rocker. I would like to know from some of the plywood builders out there if they have experienced loss of rocker or spring back after gluing. If so, any advice on overcompensatin...

Re: Pumps for vacuum bagging

Bill. It looks like I can pick up a used pump on ebay for roughly the same amount that I would invest in converting a fridge pump. Thanks for the input.

Pumps for vacuum bagging

I have read through the posts and didn’t see any threads on this. Can anyone comment on the use of a shop vac for vacuum bagging a kiteboard? I have a 2hp shop vac. I have done some research and have read some opinions saying that it will work but the vacuum force is far lower than a regular vacuum ...
