Re: New to forum, help please

If you go to your first lesson never having flown a kite before that might not be such a bad thing. Good luck. Really? IMHO its all about kite control. tons of people have loads of boardsports experience and it does eventually come into play, but at first its all about kite control. Not sure how ti...

Re: Blame Game

Sounds to me like the dude who ran into her lines simply lacked the ability to avoid her. If he has to stop and sink into the water to change directions (as previously mentioned) he might have just lacked the ability to slow down in time to avoid her. Still his fault though. No question in my mind. ...

Re: How small can a FS kite pack down for travel?

Those pictures do show a nice tight roll, but if you vacuum-packed it, it would get significantly smaller.

Re: Cape Hatteras Beaches are being closed to everyone!

Well said BWD, it all comes down to the old saying, "give them an inch they will take a mile" anyone who supports regulation of this area likely does not understand that saying. And that is exactly part of the concern. If this goes through, what will they do next? Will they be content to stop at th...

Re: Cape Hatteras Beaches are being closed to everyone!

I'm sorry, but paying a fee really isn't such a big deal. Tons of other kiters all over the U.S. have to pay fees to use various parks to access their sites. The fact that the Cape Hatteras National Seashore has been completely free all these years, including the ability to DRIVE ON THE BEACH, is p...

Re: cape hatteras question

I've personally found July to be hit or miss. I spent a week there for 4th of July and was only able to kite a couple days. Even with a giant foil for the light wind. Very disappointing. That being said, the trips I've made in May always yielded great results. June could be good too. I'd recommend M...

Re: sp3 dlx 15m pivot turning?

Last time I flew my 15, I don't recall it losing power in the turns. Test your line lengths and run a mixer test, make sure everything matches up the way it is supposed to.

Follow the manual, these are not hard things to check. ;)

Re: Nubie Alert: Avoid F1 boards and Mystic Harnesses

Dont have any experience with F-One Gear, but I've been using Mystic harnesses for awhile now. No issues beyond normal wear & tear (some scrapping on the material, and some fraying on the straps, but nothing major). Perhaps there is some difference between the impact harnesses and the regular waist ...

Re: not hooking in until ready to launch, ok or not ok?

In a situation like that... I'd hook up the leash, but not necessarily the chickenloop... At least if he lets go, it doesnt fly away. But being fulled connected to the kite, could have been really bad. In that situation the kite could have powered up and slammed right into the guy who was trying to ...
