Re: Foilers vs Kiters proportion now

it's just fact.. there are virtually no young recreational kiters.. There I fixed it for you. We've two under-20 riders locally here, both dads are "distributers". The next youngest is sponsored by Naish, everyone else is 40 plus. You missed "riding swells when you can't surf". PITA to travel with?...

Re: Hurricane Florence and Dimitri Maramenides

Dimitri IS real. I don't own an Epic kite nor I'm a fan or promoter (never had the chance to test one here in Italy) but I think Dimitri is a very positive guy who works passionately for his business, I can't understand why he is criticized every time he shows his kites and boards. Every day I read...

Re: Foilers vs Kiters proportion now

People who foil here are split into having given up everything except foils (almost without exception they're racers) end those who're redwing rescuing light wind sessions. I'd say 25% of our locals ride anything depending on conditions, 60% directionals only (but...there are no waves) 10% anything ...

Re: hydrofoiling in "normal winds"

I get laughed at by everyone when I rig an 8m kite. The TT riders say it's too small, the race foilers say it's too small, the surf foilers says it's too big. Can't win :D 8m up to 20 knots then I'll TT. I'd want a 6m over 20 for sure...

Re: 2018 Axis Limited/Vanguard

I've got a 2018, 142x44. Had 140x43 2013 and 2015 models too. Medium rails, less aggressive channels/spines. Notice less resistance when sliding a transition but I think this board tracks better through chop. A little less harsh through the chop too, a little softer maybe, but that might just be tha...

Re: Why do Foils Howl?

The first generation of the Cabrinha Double Agent hummed pretty loudly. I remember someone rode past me while I was standing in the water teaching a lesson and I could hear it as he went by! I've ridden two different units of the first gen -- one whistled at foiling speed, the other dead silent at ...

Re: Self Landing Foilkites in 20+kts

mine bounced off the tip and did mach 2 to the other side. Fortunately there were grass covered dunes on that side and the lines hit the dunes before the kite crumbled behind them. I was speculating that it would have hit the ground and exploded... It was going really fast...The lines were screamin...
