Re: Rider weight versus foil classification (wind range)

I ride the biggest Naish surf thrust for my 100+ kg's.... But I recommend the medium to 80kg guys because they struggle with lift of the beast when starting. I’m about 88 kg so I feel almost borderline between the large and medium Naish surf foil. I’d probably go for the medium since I’ll be using ...

Re: Rider weight versus foil classification (wind range)

Ok, better understanding with all the responses. I am gonna get a sup/surf wing set but still keep my standard RRD free ride foil. As much as I’d like to go for a Lift or Cloud9/Impulse setup, I’ll probably go with the Naish or Takuma sup/surf wings to save some money. I can just get the wing set an...

Re: Rider weight versus foil classification (wind range)

What is very different is when the Moses 633 Onda set up is on the water, this changes our choice of kite size, I will now choose 1 or 2 kite sizes smaller than I would for the standard wing set up, the massive lift and crazy low stall speed allow this, so because of this people who are not up to t...

Re: Rider weight versus foil classification (wind range)

I don't think rider weight (within reasonable weights) impacts the performance of a foil as much as other factors such as wing aspect ratio, thickness, camber, fuse length, etc. I get your point, but do the shape/set-up factors change that much from large kite free ride to small SUP/surf, that a bi...

Rider weight versus foil classification (wind range)

I’m really just trying to better understand the effect of rider weight on all these expanding foil sizes/categories. Seems like there is more of a blurred line between free ride kite foils and smaller SUP/surf foils, and line gets even more blurred by the effect of rider weight. Would a smaller size...

Re: Nigel no mates

I’ve been living on the Outer Banks for the last 10 years and playing around with this stuff since the prehistoric days of wood boom windsurfers. We’re still pretty much the epicenter of all things kiting on the US east coast. Guys like Dimitri have made this place a part time home for many years. T...

Re: Are Switch kites getting any better?

Thanks for the fix Felix. I ordered a 12m Element today. Thought for sure I would replace my 2010 12m Switchblade with a Nitro but the reviews, and one of my Switch riding kiting buddies, both convinced me otherwise.

Re: Are Switch kites getting any better?

Anyone having issues trying to order from the website lately? I wanna give them my money and order “pop-ups” lockup after the address info. Usually I only ever have issues when returning stuff............

Great when riding with friends. Totally awesome when those friends are your own kids. 12-25-17 session during family trip to Perth
