Re: Unhooked self-launch for safety

I dont think this should be taught to beginners. For beginners, having a donkey stick completely nuls this, as you have to firstly look down, hook in, look down, to insert the stick. During these critical 5 seconds the kite can easily move into the power zone. Even in the video he almost lost contro...

Re: Kitesurfing in South of France

Hmm, South of France...my home region. Very light winds apart for Mistral/Sirocco from time to time. The winds are often very gusty offshore/cross (onshore weak sandy wind for the Sirocco). It gets very deep ,very quickly. Its crowded ( on land and in the sea, boats everywhere). NOT for beginners. B...

Hmm, still trying to figure out if riding under 10 knots with a huge foil kite/board, without being able to carve, more fun than SURFING or SUP...

Re: Core Kite Skim?

Reminds me of the Phase5 surfwake skims. Fun shapes with a variety of fin setups.

Re: so i tried kitesurfing, seems dangerous.

anyways not saying i would never kitesurf, just sitting down to rethink it for a while. No problem, if you don't feel safe after a couple of session this probably isn't the sport for you and you might put yourself and others in danger. But conditions, spot, and gear can have a HUGE effect on your p...

Re: Independent rider license or certificate - what is it?

For rentals sometimes proof that you can ride is kind of necessary. Or SOMETIMES you get "the look" and get asked weird questions. Having some nice pics of boosting and wave slashing helps, if not work take my money to a different shop. "Certification" is useless in so many non-caucasian countries w...

Re: Why doesn't everybody side rig their lines in launch position?

After landing to take a brake you don't slide your bar back upwind lol. You wind-up your lines a little to keep things clean around your area and later launch again from the side. right? Also guys rigging upwind how do you self launch? Seems pretty dangerous. Do whatever feels rights but I think sid...

Re: Why doesn't everybody side rig their lines in launch position?

I have side rigged my kite in 30 knots+, no problem. While tying just put some sand on top of the line tips so they dont get blown downwind. The lines do get crossed due to the strong wind (pic), can be problem if there is junk on the beach. Easy to see you lines, good for for self launch and for as...
