Re: Buoy for race training

These are commonly available at marine stores. You can see an 18" one from hundreds of meters away.
To anchor it be sure to use some chain near the surface so it goes downward and you don't have any rope dangling around the surface.

Here is Kai Lenny on the Naish foil surfing in crappy waves but making it look easy.

Re: How to Assemble a Naish Foil Set

Our local North dealer has not had any foils delivered yet from North. It sounds more like North wants to ensure everything is durable before they put it in stores.

But this is a Naish topic and I haven’t heard any problems with that foil. Any first hand reports?

(Incidentally the image of a broken foil above is not a real carbon one but is just a composite material without carbon cloth.)

Re: How to Assemble a Naish Foil Set

Tef Gel is great stuff but expensive and not readily available on store shelves. I use Locktite blue which is widely available and only $6 per tube. It is anti corrosive and resists screws loosening. Corrosion is a big problem where stainless screws touch aluminum (screws into aluminum mast and fuse...

Re: How to Assemble a Naish Foil Set

The large Phillips head screws are widely used with hydrofoils and they work fine as long as you use a regular #3 Philllips screwdriver.

I am impressed with the stabilizer adjustment system.. it looks easier than having to replace shims.

Re: Tuttle box broke

I personally own a Taaroa Tuttle box foil and a Zeeko plate foil. They both are plenty strong for even big jumps but the tracks used in the board for the plate system would probably be the weakest part.. from an engineering point of view.

Re: Tuttle box broke

There are four box standards commonly used to connect the mast and board. Tuttle box Deep Tuttle box KF box Pro box There is also a plate standard. All these seem to hold up well after years of kiteboarding experience. I have seen masts break, wings break, and boards break but I have never seen a pr...

Re: Leading Edge Bladder tips blowing out

You must make sure that the bladder is attached to the end of the wingtip and not just loose inside the leading edge. Correct. We see a lot of wing tip bladder blow out failures and it is almost ALWAYS because somebody has failed to reattach the bladder tip properly by folding it in with the fabric...

Re: Tuttle box broke

I have been riding a Taaroa Joy with a standard Tuttle box for over a year now with no problems. Several of my friends have the same. We ride boards made by Mikes Lab, Taaroa, Roberts and other competent companies. Just look at the connection between your mast and fuselage (which takes comparable fo...
