Re: Foil kites on shorter lines

I switched from 24m to 20m lines for my 9m and 13m Chrono foil kites and am happy with them. Don't forget that the bridle on a foil kite is several meters long so the distance to the kite is not as short as you might think.

I tried 15m lines but I just couldn't get used to the quickness.

Re: Any tips on building a foilboard...

The picture I posted above was a joke. It is of a plywood board and wooden wings made by my buddy Grey B (who is actually an experienced foiler) and who clearly had too much time on his hands in his wood shop. He was able to ride it for a few moments, but a beginner would not stand a chance. Learnin...

Re: Nailed some tacks today, feels great!

I am no expert but here are a few things that have helped me.. - be well powered - go into the tack quite fast - pull continuously and harder on your back hand than you might think - absolutely look under your shoulder (to turn your board) - try to end up balancing on top of your board rather than f...

Impressive Horst. Any upwind angle better than 40 degrees is impressive.

But tracks really should be measured only where there is absolutely no current.. hard to find except maybe on an inland lake.

Re: Better upwind performance

If one is using an SUP foil and a wave kite what change would yield significantly better upwind angles: I presume what you want is better upwind performance. You certainly need a faster foil.. ideally a race foil will give you optimum upwind performance. Your upwind angle could also be increased ju...

Hi Grégoire
It looks good and useful. Thank you.
May I suggest that you provide some assurance that registered users will not have their email addresses bombarded with advertising and spam.. it is always a concern.

Re: I need convincing too:) Bar back lines!

Over the years the big kite manufacturers have determined what kite line strength is appropriate for normal use for average weight riders. It is always a trade off between durability and strength versus performance. You can buy race line sets from companies like Ozone which are thinner and have less...

Re: Foot Strap recommendations

Dakine footstraps are widely available. I recommend either model below. Both hold their shape.
