Re: Chinese KB Hydrofoil : 300 USD + shipment

I had 4 sessions on JNJ, and would agree that it is not the most beginner friendly setup. For now I'm back learning basics on Rocket foil. BTW, it seems that the other vendors on aliexpress got the message and the competition is now on! https://www.aliexpress.com/item/2017-new-Carbon-Fiber-Hydrofoi...

Re: Is it possible to kite a surf-foil?

Shorter mast makes the foil more agile, reactive, easier to turn - this is exactly what you want from a slow, wave oriented foil. Hi Mitaka, I appreciate your points about shorter mast being more agile, reactive, easier to turn. I have always thought the longer mast provides benefits for riding in ...

Re: Is it possible to kite a surf-foil?

First session at home on the new china surf foil. I’m totally stoked by this package. Strong and versatile and affordable. It’s beautifully stable and quiet to ride - I think that’s the advantage of its weight. No vibration or noise whatsoever, and because it has a bit of mass it plots theu weed wi...

Re: Is it possible to kite a surf-foil?

Really glad that the new foil worked great!! In addition to not sinking it seems to me that heavy foils are harder to get and keep on their side for launching. But, I have never had a light foil, so I am imagining how they might behave. Great that you pointed out some great advantages of a fuller fo...

Re: Is it possible to kite a surf-foil?

I have been having some fun on my LF Foilfish in the surf. I know everyone bashes the LF Foilfish with standard ~36"/~91cm mast -- and I am the first to admit I have only tried 2 other foils for less than 45 min combined. But when I heard people on this thread talking about wanting a slow foil in th...

Re: Is it possible to kite a surf-foil?

There is at least one very lightweight surf/SUP foil expert (13 year old Finn Spencer @ just over 50 lbs). He has just recently started to learn to kitesurf. He might be able to use the XLW canard foil to catch waves and see how it performs? It's not designed for the purpose, but maybe it will work...

Re: Is it possible to kite a surf-foil?

Hi Liv2Surf, I am a kiteshop and currently resell Zeeko. I personally ownthe Spitfire, Green and White and soon a China Takuma. The spitfire is a fantastic foil - I rode it all last summer. The canard design works well and really gives the back foot much more input to the handling. My analogy would...

Re: Is it possible to kite a surf-foil?

Hi. Just found this thread and glad someone has taken the plunge with this Chinese Takuma. I have currently listed my Spitfire zeeko for sale and as soon as it's gone I'm going to order one of these Chinese foils from the same supplier. I emailed them yesterday via the Alibaba app - raphael at subl...

Re: Go Foil powered by a kite for waveriding

Gunnar, what mast length and board are you using for these slow speed wings? The Board is pretty much up to you. I use anything from my EXO to the 5'4" Takuma teaching Boards. In clean conditions the 60cm mast is fine. The 70cm is probably the best one for fast turns. 90cm is a bit slow to turn, bu...
