Re: snow kiting - which is better? skies or board?

We are going to be in the Front Range area late Dec and then up near Glenwood Springs first few days of Jan. Used to live out there many years ago, and from what I remember seems unlikely we will have snow for kiting that early, in that area. On the off chance we get lucky, my smallest kite is a 10m...

Fl keys in August - what to do without wind

Gonna be down in the keys for a short trip and looking for suggestions on what to do without wind. Primarily looking for stuff to do in the mid and lower keys, but will be traveling down and back with time to do stuff in the upper keys as well Looking for recommendations based on your experiences: -...

Re: Best control bar

starsky's response is spot on. As for the various brands, Cabrinha is well known for being finicky and hard to put back together in the water also they tend to change designs each year so they tend to make it more complicated than it needs to be. my feelings on the various brands ... liquid force: ...

Re: Ireland in September?

We visited a couple years ago in May & I planned to rent a board. I did not set it up ahead of time and had trouble making it work while I was there - most of the outfits were not yet up and running for the season. Can't recall the names of the stores - one was in Galway, one in Dublin, and one in S...

Re: Line length question/observation

In light winds there will often be a noticeable increase in wind speed at 50ft above the water compared to 25 ft above the water - so longer lines and flying the kite higher will generate more power.
This effect rapidly goes away above 10 kts

Re: Launch Unhooked!

Interesting discussion. I can see both sides, but I don't think unhooked launches are appropriate for beginners. Most beginners and many intermediates haven't developed the muscle memory for a smooth single-hand-on-bar launch, and many don't have a thorough, intuitive understanding of how a kite ba...

Re: Launch Unhooked!

I am lucky to live in an area where my launches are all on wide open sandy beaches with clean wind. But I've seen plenty of sketchy launch spots elsewhere. In the last 8 years we've seen plenty of stories of launches going wrong and causing tragic injuries and death. Kiteboarding seems to be in anot...

Re: slingshot turbine Help

Not sure if this is a new kite or a used kite new to you. What you are describing is the kite is oversheeted - steering lines are too short; or something is wrong with the bridle? Regardless, I would check line lengths first. Connect all 4 lines together and attach to something solid. When bar is fu...
