Re: Stupid behavior costs us, again.

To give you guys an update on the situation As a result of this incident, there has been a lot of communication between Cayman's kiters - which I consider to be a good thing. I hope that now people feel they can say something if they see a kiter behaving in a way that could jeapordise their access. ...

Re: Where to go in November apart from Brazil?

I think it is hard for anyone to guarantee wind, but we got 29 windy days out of 30 for the month of November here in the Cayman Islands. In truth, I think the single day was kite-able, but by then we'd become wind snobs! The East End of Grand Cayman has more of a laid back feel than the west part, ...

Really great images, Rick

They do justice to the fantastic areas we get to call our back yard!

Re: Cabrinha Plasma 2010 or RRD BS3 2008

I rate the plasma - when you have to work really hard just to stay upwind on your normal TT, (mines a 139 caliber) , the plasma will get you upwind with no effort at all. I have the 2010 plasma and also rode the 2009 in Key West. I've never ridden the RRD. I was the only one out kiting this Christma...

Re: What do you do when the winds not blowing

nice cars Richie ! But sounds like there is no wind at all in the Caymans! ;-) No, not today Toby! Nice to have a break for once - I managed to drop off a new SUP board to a customer in time for a surprise Christmas present, (lucky husband), and do some work to the beach house - now to chill in the...

Re: What do you when the winds not blowing

Mostly work! Either catching up on stuff for the school, or working on new projects. I just got a Canon 7D, so trying to get to grips with the video and photo editing, too When I was living in the UK, I was really into modifying VW's, (mostly engine design) - but I gave that all up to come and live ...

Re: Need a cure for the uncommon cold (wetsuit related quest

Ha! Yeah, we've caught the front here in the Caymans, too. 70F feels freezing to me now! I must have gone soft! It just warmed up today, though. I had a neoprene hoody, that I liked. Infact I just ordered another NPX one as the last one went missing. It has a hole for your harness hook to go through...

Re: plexiglass boards

I'll be starting work on the second prototype soon. Decided to switch over to clear Polycarbonate rather than Acrylic as this doesn't shatter as easily and has virtually the same properties. From memory, Polycarbonate is sensitive to UV light. I believe the anti-vandal bus shelters that use polycar...

Re: Windy holiday destinations by month - summary

Likewise, if Watergate bay in the UK is on here, (I used to love taking by surf board there), then Grand Cayman has to be on this list - a highly underestimated destination in my humble opinion. The windiest season is between Oct. and May. During this time the wind blows over 15 knots 80+% of the da...

Re: Stacked kites. What's your expierenece

A friend and I stacked 2 line flexifoil 10's, before I used to kiteboard. If I remember rightly, they pulled like a train, but weren't the best things to fly. Saying that, back then no-one knew what a wind window was, so we didn't really understand the best way to fly them. However, I wouldn't have ...
