Re: 3D printing of kite plastic parts: low friction sliding ring

I can review and test the plastic v alloy LFR. I've been running the alloy lfr for months now on my jay harness and it is lush! no corrosion and smooth operation. My only gripe is that the radius does not match the chicken loop so relies on line tension to stay in place. On occasions when I crash th...

Re: Kiteboards: Flat Vs Rocker

20-35mm low rocker. 30-45mm medium rocker 45mm+ high rocker. Note that rocker amount is also related to board length a 160mm board with 3.4cm rocker is the same rocker radius as a 140mm board with 2.6cm rocker The points in this vid a reasonably correct with the exception of the statement that ALL k...

Re: Mast/Strut Fiber Angles

Hehe.... I have 800gm uni and 800gm twill in the mast.
Needless to say it doesn't break when I hit the sea floor, fish and submerged logs!
It also weighs heaps less than a alloy mast and floats.... so win win.

Sounds like you should try one. Stuff body dragging 1km before you can start.

Re: DIY split wave twinny

Yeah two plates would be fine. They wouldn't need to be thick at all since they would be on both sides of the board. Like 300gsm carbon skins might even be enough. I did some measuring and marking on my foil board last night. The bottom part that goes under the plate could be 200mm wide and 700mm l...

Re: Mast/Strut Fiber Angles

If mast is critical for stiffness. The stiffer the better. The difference between too flexible and stiff is only a few hundred grams. My call is to make sure the mast is STIFF. If you want to skimp on weight take it out of the board, fuse and wings.

Re: How To Self-Land a Kite in High Winds

.you should easily be able to hold the power if the kite is flagged. You haven't kited in truely windy conditions then. I guess not. If you can't hold a flagged kite that is wrapped around a bar, then your only option is to dump the kite. In other words , It's not a safe day to kite   :...
