Re: How to turn a hydrofoil - and what is YAW ?

Interesting thoughts. My take is a little different. Yaw control to me Is very similar to other sports as far as i'm concerned. What is different is the weight distribution and height control. I lean in and "yaw" every time I turn my mountain bike. The technique is different. The balance point is di...

Re: Ozone Uno for young, light weight rider?

I have a 4m uno. Yep it will work no worries. I use it one the hydrofoil and stupid high wind on the mutant. At 78kg bottom end for me on the foil is around 18 knots. But I don't see why a light person couldn't take it a lot lower. It flys fine in lighter winds. Its actually got some performance too...

Re: Jumping with a smaller kite 7m Bandit 2016

Hold the kite back longer and wait later before flying it above your head and do a last second dive in front of you. You need to be precise with a small kite and slow your decent with carefully time dive forward or downloop.

Re: carving to toe

One more ditty of advice. Keep the foil low to start with. Then when you can low level foil carve around take it higher.

Re: Ram airs crash in 2017

Hehehe. Yep that's a goodie. Now back to crashing kites. Here is a personal factoid. I have never had to swim in when flying a foil kite. The only times that I have been unable to relaunch a kite in the water is with lei's. Has to float in from about 500m out on Wednesday because my bloody ozone edg...

Re: carving to toe

I say don't over think it. Just carve around like you would on a surfboard. To make it easier have a nice amount of kite power. Not so little that you run out of grunt mid turn and not so much that you get pulled into a high speed toeside death run. For me that's about 15 knots on the 8m

Re: Kitesurfing New Zealand north island round christmas

As a general rule the prevailing wind is westerly, The west coast has Bigger swell and bigger winds and better wave locations. East coast. lighter winds, flatter water, more estuaries. If you want waves then add Raglan and Taranaki (new Plymouth) to your destination list. It looks like La nina weath...

Re: 3D printing of kite plastic parts: low friction sliding ring

Guys. You are arguing with a guy who is trolling and not interested in actual facts and figures. I suggest let it go. But then we'll never know if the cheap plastic part will break first, or the cheap plastic embossing will chew through the cheap plastic line  You remind be of a wrestling a pi...

Re: Kite loop to waterstart

To answer the down loop question. Back loop first. Then if that does get you foiling follow it with a front loop. The lighter the wind the bigger the loop. Don't fish pole the bar with a tight pussy loop in ultra light wind. Give that loop some grunt and smash a wide arc. The next rule of thumb for ...
