Re: Mast/Strut Fiber Angles

If mast is critical for stiffness. The stiffer the better. The difference between too flexible and stiff is only a few hundred grams. My call is to make sure the mast is STIFF. If you want to skimp on weight take it out of the board, fuse and wings.

Re: How To Self-Land a Kite in High Winds

.you should easily be able to hold the power if the kite is flagged. You haven't kited in truely windy conditions then. I guess not. If you can't hold a flagged kite that is wrapped around a bar, then your only option is to dump the kite. In other words , It's not a safe day to kite   :...

Re: Mast/Strut Fiber Angles

Sorry your right. My bad.

Should have been 0,15,30,45

You could potentially omit 45's and run 0,15,30. But dual 45 angles are easy to achieve so why not.

Re: Mast/Strut Fiber Angles

Yep. I ran uni-on the angle from corner to corner of mast. Maybe 10 deg? This means it's not wrapped, correct? Because very hard to go 'around' mast LE with Uni. Not impossible, but hard. I still need to make a plug, so no. No tests for now. Also, I'm building for 60kg rider, and you are 80-90 :) 7...

Re: How to turn a hydrofoil - and what is YAW ?

The more I think about this the more I disagree that yaw is the primary turning function of the foil. I was out today on the mutant boosting and watching myself yaw the board aggressively multiple times. I was doing this well before foiling and my yawing experience did not help me on the foil. So. Y...

Re: Mast/Strut Fiber Angles

Yep. I ran uni-on the angle from corner to corner of mast. Maybe 10 deg? Essentially when laying up carbon you want to run the fibers in the direction you want the stiffness. With a mast you want stiffness in many directions. 45/45 is not that effective because each individual strand does not span m...

Re: DIY split wave twinny

Awesome build. I do worry that you have created a stress riser at the plate end. I would have radiused the carbon reinforcement so dispersion the stress loading away from the plate.
