Re: Havent been kiting for over a month..... Dont care!

Thanks for the concern and lack of concern!. Argh. Ill be back at it when some sweet westerlies tie into a weekend. I've been biking for 24 year's kiting for 14. This is the first time biking has been winning since I started kiting. Toby, I've tried the different kiting disciplines and settled into ...

Re: how often do you hit fish?

Has anyone killed a fish with their foil, The picted up the fish, stuffed it into their wetsuit, Taken it home an eaten it?

If so.... You are my hero!

Re: Corrosion on Aluminium parts (Moses fuselage)

Side note. To break the galvanic cell between alloy and carbon you can space the 2 materials apart with something inert like a thin plastic. It still wont fix a faulty product! and the pitting corrosion extends past the point of a dissimilar metal reaction and into the a break down of the passive oi...

Re: Corrosion on Aluminium parts (Moses fuselage)

Excellent, plummet. I studied electro chemistry and know a bit about electrochemical cells  The corrosion will always happen as soon as you bring Aluminium and carbon into electrically conductive contact and add an electrolyte (sea water). No crevice is neededf or this. However, a crevice - w...

Re: Corrosion on Aluminium parts (Moses fuselage)

Hi all, after having ridden my Moses foil in North Sea water for less than 3 hours during its first use I´ve been irritated to see clear signs of corrosion on the fuselage. The shiny black (anodized) surface was covered with numerous elevated white spots of Al2O3 (alumina). These corrosion spots we...

Re: Best way to make a prototype

Plummet, I have now built a few foils, starting with crapola and now having a couple pretty nice setups. I found your explanation and lessons learned quite accurate and also validated a few things i have been trying(one being multiple holes for stab placement and size relation to that placement). T...

Re: How to crash advice

It's hard to explain. When i started foiling the board would hunt me down and smack into me. Now, whenever I crash it doesn't. I think I have learned to master the art of a toe flick and dive as I exit the foil. Sends the foil in one direction while i go in the other. I really don't know how to expl...

Re: Why not more canards ?

Did I ride a standard spitfire maybe 6 months ago? Took me 10-15mins to re-train myself to be able to ride it. It was a very responsive and lively foil. I can see why it would be fun in small waves. I found it slower, less stable and worse upwind that my foil. Ultimately I preferred my foil over the...
