Re: lightest winds - floaters vs sinkers

keh? Ever want for a more buoyant foil board to improve light wind performance? An SUP with a foil on it? No not really. My TT style construction 125cm pocket board gets me going around 7 knots. below that i go mountain biking... Well to be honest below 15 knots i go mountain biking, But sometimes ...

Re: More wings, the hard way?

I would love to have the time to build my own wings and it is interesting to learn how others fab up test designs. In terms of build approach, I would purchase metal molds CNC'ed from solidwoks, and use carbon fiber layup/compression techniques. Molds are pretty inexpensive but take a few weeks. As...

Re: 12m hyperlink or 11m chrono ultralight??

Both kites are good.
Chrono is slightly better upwind and has a higher top speed.

Hyperlink is slightly more stable with slightly faster turning.

PS I've flown Chrono and hyperlink but not ultralight Chrono

Re: at 57°F (14°C) water temperature you would choose 5/4 or 4/3 wetsuit?

Either will do. As others have said. Air temp plays a big part as does wind speed. 20 deg air temp and 15 knots is a shit tonne better than 8 deg c air temp and 40 knots of wind!.....

Re: Kite for 18+ knots

I dont know exactly "what you do" out there, which you can do with more power and speed just the same ??? Apparently not the same way of riding at least... Some things are just a matter of getting used to more speed and power yes, agree, but the major part many freeriders/waveriders seek is not pos...

Re: How much are old kites holding me back?!

Yes, Your old kites are basically junk now. They will have very little depower and will turn like a truck.

Stepping into any foil kites or lei kites made in the last 5 years will feel like a revelation by comparison.

Re: Kite for 18+ knots

Why are you guys over powered on a 6m in 18 knots? Are you using massive wings? Are your foils set up with too much aoa on the rear wing or do you simply have poor speed control? I'm still on the 8m and loving it in 18 knots.l But to the question at hand. Keep buying smaller kites to extend the upp...

Re: My next board design.

My personal opinion is you can get the same pivotal turning by simply moving the fin closer to your foot strap. The centre of my fin is about 10cm behind the centre of the footpad. Then again, I don't really ride waves like plummet, and I prefer a loose feel. I agree for small waves it will be swee...
