Re: "full" lean vs. "kinked" lean

I was cranked right over today heelside dragging my hand in the water. I felt cool as fuck. A basic move on a TT, but it's somewhat more challenging on the foil.

Re: Fixing a twintip?

As above. However if there has been structural damage around the fin due to impact it might be worth while considering a some reinforcement also.

Re: Mast/Strut Fiber Angles

I'll be interested to hear the results of adding fibers at 60 degrees if you think that is the solution. But just to be clear, I'm a mechanical engineer and have a pretty good idea about the physics here, and I can't understand why an angle this sharp would be the solution. This is not exactly my f...

Re: How to turn a hydrofoil - and what is YAW ?

Are you sure that you are turning the foil primarily by roll and you do not yaw the board with the pull of your turning kite? If you like, next time when you go out with your foil, do the following experiment and lets us know how you feel: When going straight slacken the kite lines by going slightl...

Re: Hydrofoil board building - dimensions & Layups

If you are making the pocket board to sell i'd suggest foil mounting options that allow foot on and behind the mast. I think foil design and riding style dictate this. I'm a foot on mast kinda guy. Chines are good. They make high speed tough downs nicer when leaning over cranklng upwind. When I made...

Re: How to turn a hydrofoil - and what is YAW ?

Went out today and focussed some time on my turns. I specifically yaw turned to see what effect it has. I do concede that you can turn a tight arc using yaw as a primary function. However as turning method it feels crass and lacking flow. I then moved back into what feels natural and flowing to me. ...

Re: 3D printing of kite plastic parts: low friction sliding ring

I can review and test the plastic v alloy LFR. I've been running the alloy lfr for months now on my jay harness and it is lush! no corrosion and smooth operation. My only gripe is that the radius does not match the chicken loop so relies on line tension to stay in place. On occasions when I crash th...

Re: Kiteboards: Flat Vs Rocker

20-35mm low rocker. 30-45mm medium rocker 45mm+ high rocker. Note that rocker amount is also related to board length a 160mm board with 3.4cm rocker is the same rocker radius as a 140mm board with 2.6cm rocker The points in this vid a reasonably correct with the exception of the statement that ALL k...
