Re: Newbie needs advice...

Dude, welcome to the amazing world of kiteboarding, it will take over your life !! As Bille said, buy a kite that you will use most in the area that you're going to kite in based on your weight and average wind conditions. If your in lighter winds you might want a 12m and a bigger board, but talk to...

Re: Blowing 11mph Gusting 30mph

Update: So it turned out is was averaging 25mph, gusting 34mph and lulls of 17mph, much more realistic than forecast. I'm 200lb, used my 8m SS Rally and small TT and it was absolutely perfect.

Re: Blowing 11mph Gusting 30mph

No not a trick question, recently moved to Texas and this is the first time I've experienced the northerly fronts coming through with such a huge difference between average wind speed and gusts. Obviously common sense tells me to wait for another day.

Blowing 11mph Gusting 30mph

So if the wind is blowing 11mph, rig a 17m Turbine, how do you deal with it when it's gusting 30mph ? Or would common sense say "wait for another day" ?

Re: Slingshot Rally vs. Turbine

I'm 92kg's Rally is faster to turn than the Turbine and also drifts better, so for boosting and surfing I'd recommend the Rally.

Re: Intermediate kiter, ready to buy a new 10m, thoughts?

Dude, I'm curious as to why you feel you need a 10m when you already have a 9m and a 12m, well I know we all like lots of gear, but you've probably got the wind coverage that you need already. Both the Rally and Switchblade are great kites and the Rally is super solid in the air and pretty good at b...

Kite and Board Size Confusion

So after years I've still yet to understand the kite and board size combinations for heavier people. So let's say a 12m ss rally's wind range is 9-22kn for a 175lb (80kg) rider and I'm presuming on a regular size board i.e. 133x41 so what if a 200lb (92kg) rider had a bigger board say a 138x43 would...

Re: The Perfect Quiver

I'm 200lbs (90kg)

SS Rally's 8m,10m and 14m
SS Turbine 17m
Brokite Custom Carbon 138x43 tt
LF Overdrive 148x45 tt
SS Dialer 5'10" Directional

Pretty much covers me for everything.

Does any one know if you can Kiteboard at Holly Beach Louisiana?

Drove through Holly Beach, Louisiana the other day as a result of the hurricane shutting down the main road. Beautiful beaches and looks super flat in places. Just wondered if we can kite there and if there are any kite spots ? Any input would be appreciated. Thanks.
