Freeride Board Recommendations

I'm mostly interested in cruising, carving, and occasionally big air with simple rotations and board offs. I want to avoid boards that are going to be constantly spraying me in the eyes. Something comfortable and simple. My local conditions are - always choppy, often gusty - Newport, RI area if anyo...

Re: New to ram-air kites

Thanks for the reply Oz. I'll test the kite to see if air comes through, but I know that at the very least it can hold water. I know because I ended up swimming, dragging it a half mile full of water. When I got back to the beach it took considerable effort to get the water out of the cells. The kit...

New to ram-air kites

I learned to kiteboard in Florida on a Monkey Griffin bow kite. Knowing that I'd be living in Oklahoma for a while I picked up an 8 meter Pulse II with the intention of ground boarding. I didn't get out as much as I'd have liked but I had some fun anyway, and I got a great deal on the kite. Now I've...

Re: Interchanging bar/lines?

Thanks: thats what I thought. But the bar of my first kite actually had pulleys on it: that's a rarity I guess?

My current bar is a straight 1:1 setup and it looks like thats how the waroo is too, so should be cool then? Thanks!

Re: Interchanging bar/lines?

I guess that shouldn't have been a Best-specific criticism. I can't believe a bar/line set from any company could cost that much.

Anyone have any experience swapping bar/lines between kites?

Interchanging bar/lines?

I've only ever flown one brand of kites as it was all I could afford: Monkey, now known as Griffin. I found a pretty sweet deal on a 2010 Waroo - kite only. What are the chances I could use the old griffin bar (it's from an 08 14 meter) on this 2010 13m Waroo? I'd be willing to modify the lines if n...

Road trip: Oklahoma City to Rhode Island

As the title suggests, I'm about to embark on a road trip between oklahoma and rhode island. Are there any places worth stopping at for land kiting? I'd be down for snow kiting if there are board rentals available. I don't mind going a little bit out of my way, I have plenty of time. This is going t...

Re: Oklahoma City: Closest kite repair?

Thanks for all the replies folks, I'll be calling a couple of these places over the next week. Luckily I won't have to learn here, I'm an intermediate or slightly better rider. The best part, though, is that I'm only here for two months. Going to New England to stay after this. How's the wind in Rho...

Re: Oklahoma City: Closest kite repair?

Try this guy, not sure if he is still running the biz , but seemed like a good guy http://www.kitebladder.com/ or order from Airtime but if your kite is old enough and you spend hundreds on bladders maybe you should think about a new kite? The newer kites really do perform a lot better, and for any...
