Re: POV Video - Deathlooping Kite Drags Rider Into A Rock Je

This is where you need oh shit handles. If I see my kite loop on its own directly after launching then I am immediately aware of a problem. Quickly assessing situation and dangers and thinking about deploying kite. If he had an oh shit handle he could have fully ejected kite and flagged it out. Thi...

Re: POV Video - Deathlooping Kite Drags Rider Into A Rock Je

Correction. Pivit did mention that he used his o-shit handles in a similar situation. With the kite looping one may not be able to reel the leash in as he did to grab his secondary but at least the kite brand he used had the common sense to include a redundant safety.

Re: POV Video - Deathlooping Kite Drags Rider Into A Rock Je

4 pages of observations by many experienced kiters and I can't believe that not one person bothered to mention o-shit handles. WAY too many kite companies have gotten away from providing such an inexpensive, secondary safety measure. In this guys case, with the center line wrapped around the bar, ha...

Re: Need some advice after my first season.

If say find a 9m and perhaps then get a bigger board for the light wind days. You could go with a door style board (which I detest personally) or break into the surf board category and get a surfboard that would be great when the wind is light And match up with your 12. The celeritas by slingshot is...

Re: Which is the best looping kite money can buy?

It sounds like you've been doing kite loops and you're looking for a kite that will excel in that category. You're looking for a "c" kite. That malarchy about breaking your neck on a torch (or any other C for that matter) may have been a concern of kites 10 years ago but that simply isn't so anymore...

Re: Which is the best looping kite money can buy?

Is there any reason why you want to stay with a bridled kite over a C-kite? I rode Rpms for a couple of years and transitioned to fuels after. Nothing IMO, compares to flying a c-kite. They give you power on demand, like a car with a more responsive throttle. It doesn't take long at all to become co...

Re: SS Dialer 5'10 - is it any good?

Very big +1 for the celeritas. Especially for light winds. It planes very quickly and has me still kiting when everyone else is still sitting on the beach. I weigh 185 and ride the 5'll" bamboo version strapless. Greet in light wind and mushy waves. If I have more power and bigger waves, I move onto...
