Re: Urethane rails?

I use poured urethane rails for all the boards I make, it's comparable to abs, you can take a hammer to the rails and they just don't break, you get a seamless edge and you can make the rails thicker at the 4 corners if you want. The trick is getting the epoxy to stick to the stuff you just cant lay...

Re: Hi and 2nd board foam core advice

I have tried lighter density foams and because the tips get so thin on my boards its hard to work with.
If you can get your hands on some Divinycell you will never go back that stuff is super strong and amazing to work with
but $$$

Re: Cedar Board Layup Advice

For a 12mm core 6 ounces of glass on top and bottom will be plenty strong, The problem is you are trying to put it on a rocker table and it will just spring back almost flat with that thick of a core. When you put a board on a rocker table type mold you want the board to come off exactly the same wi...

Re: Final finishing.

I put the glass down then put one good sanding coat on it and almost sand it down to the glass with 60 grit. Then I put an extremly thin finish coat of polyurothane just to get ride of the scratches. Then its 800 grit then 2000 grit, then rubbing compound then polishing compound takes me a good 4 h...

Re: Avoiding/covering up breather cloth texture effect.

I have been trying to find a way to do this forever without buying the heavy equipment. I can get one good side from a mold but the other side will always be textured because of the vacuum bagging. Thats why most companies use the plastic sheeting Its quick and looks good when its done and it has im...
