Re: light wind surfboard vs foil board

I have an NJS race board. It does have better low end and upwind than the door and surfboard unless there is seaweed. Its very heavy for a jump. I don't think its buoyancy that helps it so much as the fact that it has a wider planing area, straps are placed better, and big efficient fins. I haven't ...

Ever want for a more buoyant foil board to improve light wind performance? An SUP with a foil on it?

Re: light wind surfboard vs foil board

... I just can't imagine there is any comparison unless it's shallow or there is seaweed. Sure, I've both foil & flydoor xl twintip. On low wind days (which we have plenty) I cannot imagine that I could go foil any better than flydoor-twintip. Race foil would ride faster and better upwind angles wh...

Re: light wind surfboard vs foil board

Have any of the people advocating door style twintips or surfboards tried foiling? I just can't imagine there is any comparison unless it's shallow or there is seaweed. I love my light wind TT and alaia in shallow flat water. Surfboard in truely light wind is better to surf without the kite. SUP and...

lightest winds - floaters vs sinkers

My money is on the foiler with an ultralight foil kite and a board that can sink to resist the kite.

Re: best foil kite for gusty conditions

Hyperlink flies very far forward. Its possible to front stall it for example by sheeting out too far if its deep in the window. I love the kite for its performance and power for size. Not so sure about big gusts especially if there is a change in direction.

Re: 12m hyperlink or 11m chrono ultralight??

I have no experience with a Chrono. A 9m Hyperlink in regular cloth stays in the air easy and works fine for me in the conditions you are after. The number one thing that ends a session for me is landing the kite in wet sand and getting a sandy coating on the kite. I wonder if Ultralight sticks less...

Re: Look what their doing to wood now !

Neat. But if 3x denser than wood, would it work in kiteboarding cores? Sounds like a sinker.

Re: Liquid Force Elite foil

Is there a difference between 2018 and 2016 Elite foils? Any reviews of the kite after long term use?

Re: How much are old kites holding me back?!

Modern kites are shiny Cayennes and not only girls but also guys dig it. Safer, faster, predictable :) My earliest Flysurfers were RookieII and Cool. About Voodoo period in history. Folks were still arguing back then that fixed-bridle on handles are superior. Holy crap all those could deliver some ...
