Re: light wind kiting

lightwind kiting is very difficult when you are at really "low" end conditions. You need to maintain speed and produce apparent yourself in order to go upwind. Also you need to work the kite but in a smooth way. Turning him fast up and down dont work most of the times (kite relevant) and you lose sp...

Re: Core 17m Riot XR LW anyone?

having the ozone zephyr for 1 and 1/2 year and now riding core riot xr2 17m i would say they are 2 different kites. What matters is what you want to do . If you aim the lowest end and you want only to trip at low winds go for zephyr. It flies at the end of the wind window , nice bar and feedback and...

Re: 7m 2011 Ozone Edge

they didnt make the edge to depower and eat the gust. It will convert it to speed. This is probably why it behaves like that. next time you try it , focus on taking the power to your feet and use the board to slow down your speed . It will behave more smoothly

Re: Kite launch fail

we almost launch like this all the time. Your friend have to give you his kite and launch on the other side from you and your kite lines. At video you are crossed . Try being on the back of the kite so if anything go wrong the kites cant cross each other. here's a video to see if you havent understo...

Re: About light wind kiting (again...)

peter 6 knots are 6 knots. You can only measure it at beach . Ofc higher layer wind will be more but you cant really have a 30m pole and measure that high can you ? The only difference you can tell is air density according to the place you live that really affects the power of the kite. This is why ...

Re: About light wind kiting (again...)

all of them !!! The fact that they have larger area on air while keeping the weight down helps a lot !! I had an ozone zephyr 2010 , at 6 knots you could relaunch that kite from water. It takes a while and need you use front line and opposite back , but you will get him on air. Then i tryed 15 ocean...

Re: About light wind kiting (again...)

Good point Peter_Frank, but I think you're forgetting the relaunching problem: with my 17 I can relaunch in ~8 knots (not less but 8/9 is enough, if you're quick and ready the first gust you get you can relaunch), with my 11 in 8/9 knots the first time the sail fall down (common situation in light ...

Re: About light wind kiting (again...)

peter new kites are ok for low wind. 80-81 at summer 85+ at winter and thats kgrs for me still can have fun if the weather is 8 knots and up . I have the power to do stuff then. i can ride from 6 but it aint worth it at all. Now if i compare it with higher winds .. ofc i prefer my 12 or even my 9 . ...

Re: About light wind kiting (again...)

For the core riot XR put the front lines to the knots on the closest point to the center. you will gain a little power with that. As long as low wind kitting is boring .. well that depend on the gear. Having a light wind specific kite (i owned a zephyr now i have XR2 lw ) and a LW board you can have...

Re: Core Riot XR 10.0

its a good brand. I flew Gt's now i own GTS 9 , 12 and XR2 17. It not well known brand worldwide but it really stands up maybe better from most well known brands on quality and strenght. They also very nice on the way they develop the power and fly. (Btw best setting for me , rear fastest for steeri...
