I had no problems using boots on a 2007 FLX (the first year with the wood core).

I use the JetPilot A-10 vest now and like it. I used to have an O'Neill Vapor and that had a bit more flotation. Something like that is definitely a good flotation/impact compromise. It never rode up and very comfortable.

One more here who thinks that heavier is better. I switched to bindings about a year ago and immediately felt the extra weight on my feet made things much smoother, especially rotations.

Until you're ready to unhook you don't need a seperate leash at all on those kites. Your primary safety is to push the bar through the stopper so you're "leashed" through the depower line.
