Re: Foil Kite advice Chrono,Hyperlink, Soul

I have been flying big foils for nearly 20 years. The Soul is the first kite that I can unequivocally recommend to a LEI rider. The Soul has eliminated most of the concerns that people have with foil kites. It is stable, turns well, relaunches well, loops like an LEI, and has shorter bridles. YES, i...

Re: Flysurfer-specific training?

I agree that you want to ride slightly de powered in light wind, but you can do this by riding with the bar out a bit from the chickenloop, no reason to pull the depower strap, unless you have short arms. I am not so sure that you should ditch your 21, just yet. I weigh 10 LBS less than you and I st...

Re: Flysurfer-specific training?

Gyre, There are a few issues worth examining: 1. You may know this already, but it is worth repeating - the board is even more important than the kite for lightwind riding. So, if you don’t have a monster lightwind board, I suggest buying one. I always carry a big flat, 164 cm board in my cargo box ...

Re: Speed 5 21 or Soul 21

Soul if buying new, Speed 5 or Sonic 2 18m if you are looking for a good deal on a used kite.

Re: Flysurfer-specific training?

Gyre, I think it is an excellent question. In my hometown, there are only a few other kiters willing to fly large foil kites on the water (more are willing on the snow because pumping in the winter sucks twice as much). If you are willing to travel, I am sure that you could find people that are will...

Re: Snow kite up and speed fly down.

I also recall a video from a few years back where I guy took off from a snowkiting area in the mountains and descended approximately 2000 feet into a town the whole time on his flysurfer foil. Not safe as any failure would have been fatal. 😳

Re: Flysurfer Soul

Back to the topic... Flew the 21 Soul yesterday and today. Yeah, it rocks. Selling my hardly used Speed 5 21. The shorter bridles are really nice on a kite that big. The kite moves like an 18, doesn’t feel like you have to adjust like you always had to in the past for the slowness of the 21 compared...

Re: Ozone and Flysurfer fanboys, tell me why...

This is a silly thread. Who cares what kite company is winning races? I could care less. Kite racing, yes it is tough, but it is like watching paint dry from a spectators perspective. You could try to list objective standards until the cows come home, but both companies have their strengths and weak...
