Re: Flysurfer Soul

I took a 10m & 6m Soul to Maui last week. The wind was typical for Maui in the summer, 20 to 25 knots gusting to 30 most days. I found the 10 was the perfect kite every day. There was a day when I tried the 6, but went back to the 10 for the lofty airs. The best part about the Soul was even when the...

Advice from an older married kiter to a young one

I have been kiting for 18 years and I have learned a few things along the way that may help younger kiters in a serious relationship or married. 1. You don't need to teach your wife to kite. In fact, it may be better if she never learns. Let her do her thing and you do yours. Kiting takes serious pa...

Re: Tube vs Softkite - an epic battle?

“Tube vs Softkites - Epic Battle” Sound like trolling to me. Really, who cares what kite you use, there is no right or wrong choice. It is not even worth arguing about. How about more threads on what kites are at suited for certain conditions or how to ride a dang hydrofoil without crashing a zillio...

Re: FS Speed5 - not getting on with it

Once you have checked the bridles and lines to make sure everything is trimmed properly, wait for a windy day. Take the 12 out in 20 knots+ and send it. You will be surprised by the magical landings of your foil kite. Frankly, you are no small fry and you have no business going out with a kite that ...

Re: Jumping=new love of my life!

Thank you for the hydrofoil recommendation. Any recommendation on board. I am an old guy (51), for me it is all about big air, the board needs to be light and stiff. I am not worried about spending for quality.

Re: Jumping=new love of my life!

Cwood, Glad to hear your girlfriend is enjoying her new Soul. I have been flying foils for 20 years and the Soul is the best kite I have flown thus far. Thank you for the recommendation on the foilboard. I head to Maui this week, so I hope to taken a couple lessons and possibly demo a board. Can’t w...

Re: Jumping=new love of my life!

I tried foilboarding last year and I have to say it was the gear, not the learning curve that dissuaded me from continuing. Putting together a foilboard while the wind was blowing would often drive me nuts. However, boosting over 30 feet in ten knots has my attention. I have a full quiver of Flysurf...

Re: Used beginner foil kites

Horst Sergio gave you some good guidance, but I would add the Chrono 2 to the no list for a beginner. The Hyperlink is a good recommendation, but good luck finding one used Same goes for the new Flysurfer Soul. If you can afford new, those 2 kites are our top picks. My top pick for a used kite would...

Re: Flysurfer-specific training?

@fernmanus where do you kite in Utah? I live in Boston but go to Alta every few years. I love to kite ski on Lake Champlain and Lake Sunapee but would really like to try the mountains I assume you are asking about the snow. Utah is a Mecca for snowkiting, no one makes a journey to Utah for our wate...

Re: Flysurfer-specific training?

Foilonfoil, I rarely use the trim strap, perhaps once every 20 sessions. For me I find enough trim just using my arms. One thing that helps is to not use a hook, I use a Mystic or Ride Engine harness with my chicken loop attached directly to the sliding rope. This gives me lots of adjustment trim. I...
