Re: New High Jump French Record - 24m

24m is crazy high, but you can see the video doesn't look that much bigger than a regular jump. It's really difficult to properly film these huge jumps so they give you a feeling for just how huge they are. The problem is that the kiter is out there in space and your eye doesn't have anything else n...

Re: Thoughts on the Jamie board

they say you "can't ride boots" on a lot of boards but the only way to know for sure is try it and see if the board breaks. They don't bother testing them in boots at the factory only in straps so when they say "don't ride with boots" it's just a guess from them. Sometimes the board will be strong e...

Re: Mittens vs. 3 Finger Gloves vs. 5 Finger Gloves

Nice. Completely agree with you, JeromeL that glove choice is tougher and matters more than your feet. Can’t really use 6mm on your hands anyways. I use ION’s 3/2 claw gloves and don’t feel fatigue either (presumably the pre-curve does a lot here?) but could do with more protection from the wind. M...

Re: Mittens vs. 3 Finger Gloves vs. 5 Finger Gloves

The dakine cold water mitt are very nice because the palm is not thick material it's thin, which means you don't wear out your forearms by gripping the bar. when you wear 5mm gloves, it oftens means a shorter session because the extra thick material causes your grip to fail long before you want to f...

I don't understand the reluctance to use the safety on a kite.
the QR is one of the best ways to land the kite. The reason people don't like it is . . . the lines sometimes get tangled? It is weird why people hate pulling their QR.

some kites love a tethered launch and behave well, others (C kites especially) can't be tether launched as they will tumble downwind

Re: WD-40 weakens kite lines?

according to what I have read, hydrocarbons (wd-40) is fine to use on dyneema rope, the only problem is if it gets inside the strands and causes sand to stick to the rope that can cause wear. You are probably right wd-40 is fine.

Re: Could someone please invent a better way to self land a kite in high wind.

everyone uses the UPPER center line landing but that way is too dangerous for me. All it takes is a little puff of air to get under the kite when it's face down and it will take off. I use the LOWER center line. You don't put the kite face down on the ground. Instead you let the kite assume a U posi...

Re: Soloshot 3 - soup to nuts review

toby I shipped u the two rendered stabilized clips. I used sony vegas pro so I know that works, but there's plenty of great other video editing software out there that can do the same. I don't think there's anything free that will do good stabilization, at least not last time I looked. feel free to ...
