Re: I need convincing too:) Bar back lines!

rears take between 5% foil kites just riding and 50% unhooked tricks. there are ways to load up the rears in a crash that will snap them or the bar. There's no point in over engineering a control bar because if you do that just means something else fails, either a line snaps, attachment rips off the...

Re: Advice for a beginner

10 years ago I would have a list of kites to stay away from, terrible kites, couldn't go upwind relaunch, all kinds of problems. Today? They are all good. Don't worry too much about which kite you buy. 1 or 2 years from now when you are good enough to have some sort of feeling for what you like you ...

Re: Is Wakestyle dead?

Wakestyle isn't dead, it's just difficult. Surfboards, foils and such are a nice break from working on your wakestyle moves. Don't worry people will go back to wakestyle.

Re: Home made harness idea

Go for it! If you are worried about failure, just remember that kite harnesses fail all the time. I've snapped many spreader hooks and have sometimes had the stitching fail on a kite harness. When that happens you just hit the QR and swim or worst case you have a full release and chase the kite. Go ...

Re: Switch Lineup

Yes, I think the new 7m-12m Helium 3 is essentially a refined and lightened evolution of the Element 5. Both have a similar aspect ratio but the helium is flatter giving a higher projected area per size which I think is a good thing for foil/wave. How does a flatter shape affect turning speed and p...

Re: How much life is left ? Pulley wear

up to you. You can ride them until they snap or you can replace it at the first sign of wear. All up to how much you like swimming. I've snapped plenty of bridles, I would give those about 6 more months before they snap if you ride 2-3 times a week, but you never know. The only way to know for sure ...

Re: Unhooking leash options

Leashes wear out just like line sets. You want to replace it every year or 6 months depending on how often you kite. I made my own leash from an eyebolt, wood block, carabiner, 5mm dyneema, but tend to use regular leashes more. If you have a friend who buys new kites with control bars and resells th...
