Re: I need convincing too:) Bar back lines!

If you race, the line width is a significant part of the drag of your kite, so you want to minimize the diameter of the lines and that means using the weakest lines that still hold. Racers will be able to configure their line set exactly to spec. For free riding, free style, wave riding, I don't see...

Re: If you can get rid of any style of kiteboarding, what style would you possibly get rid of and why?

for sure there are problems in the kite community and it mainly has to deal with self enforcement. So for instance, there might be a beach where the kiters are buzzing the beach goers and generally scaring the tourists. The local kite crew, instructors and those who have been there a while give a ta...

Re: Is Wakestyle dead?

Be careful ascribing any importance to the opinion of the "average" or "Majority" when it comes to the evolution of styles in the sport. This is not a democracy! The average do not lead, they follow, and then only as far as they can. It's pretty important for the leaders of the sport to listen to t...

Re: I need convincing too:) Bar back lines!

rears take between 5% foil kites just riding and 50% unhooked tricks. there are ways to load up the rears in a crash that will snap them or the bar. There's no point in over engineering a control bar because if you do that just means something else fails, either a line snaps, attachment rips off the...

Re: Advice for a beginner

10 years ago I would have a list of kites to stay away from, terrible kites, couldn't go upwind relaunch, all kinds of problems. Today? They are all good. Don't worry too much about which kite you buy. 1 or 2 years from now when you are good enough to have some sort of feeling for what you like you ...

Re: Is Wakestyle dead?

Wakestyle isn't dead, it's just difficult. Surfboards, foils and such are a nice break from working on your wakestyle moves. Don't worry people will go back to wakestyle.

Re: Home made harness idea

Go for it! If you are worried about failure, just remember that kite harnesses fail all the time. I've snapped many spreader hooks and have sometimes had the stitching fail on a kite harness. When that happens you just hit the QR and swim or worst case you have a full release and chase the kite. Go ...
