Re: I need convincing too:) Bar back lines!

Thanks for all the info on spectra and dyneema. I'm always trying to learn more. I was sure that the methods used were quite different and caused slight differences in the lines, but I could have been wrong. It's a little bit weird talking about snapping lines like it was some disaster. I've snapped...

Re: I need convincing too:) Bar back lines!

In the mid-1990 s, PSR developed a patented recrystallization process for converting Honeywell s S-900 fiber into a higher strength material. The Plasma process produced ropes that were the highest strength constructions available, predating the availability of ropes made from either S-1000 or SK-75...

Just use your lines and let them wear until they snap. When they look like a caterpillar they are about to snap.

Re: I need convincing too:) Bar back lines!

lines get stronger with use as the dyneema molecules gets more and more aligned in the same direction, but that's why not why they weaken, they weaken because every time sand rubs against the lines, or you twist them on to the bar, or you make a turn, the lines fray and wear, that's where they get w...

Re: Is Wakestyle dead?

Many of us, including me, gave up on windsurfing because it was too hard to reach the top levels of windsurfing that deliver the same euphoric high you can get after your first 10 sessions in kiting. I never wind surfed but most of the old fellas around here quit windsurfing because they would see ...

Re: I need convincing too:) Bar back lines!

If you race, the line width is a significant part of the drag of your kite, so you want to minimize the diameter of the lines and that means using the weakest lines that still hold. Racers will be able to configure their line set exactly to spec. For free riding, free style, wave riding, I don't see...

Re: If you can get rid of any style of kiteboarding, what style would you possibly get rid of and why?

for sure there are problems in the kite community and it mainly has to deal with self enforcement. So for instance, there might be a beach where the kiters are buzzing the beach goers and generally scaring the tourists. The local kite crew, instructors and those who have been there a while give a ta...

Re: Is Wakestyle dead?

Be careful ascribing any importance to the opinion of the "average" or "Majority" when it comes to the evolution of styles in the sport. This is not a democracy! The average do not lead, they follow, and then only as far as they can. It's pretty important for the leaders of the sport to listen to t...
