Re: A case for full face?

in kiting is you have a power source that pulls you away from the foil in wipeouts. A frequent issue (discussed by many here) is the board chasing you down after a forward fall and striking you in the head with speed, while you're floating in the water. ie: my avatar ;) And here is why I do love my...

Re: For an absolute newbie

Flying a kite in 8-10 kts requires skills. LOTS more than in 20kts... Skills to keep it in the air, then even more skills to generate reliable continuous power. You need to practice those skills extensively before you go on the foil. Try landboarding / snowkiting or at the very least, spend some tim...

Re: One kite for old school AND foiling

I'm puzzled to see people recommending the Reo. It's a great kite, no doubt about it, but when waveriding isn't even part of your listed requirements, the Enduro would fit the bill so much better for all other points. Sorry I don't buy into the "best kite for TTip", it goes against its wave DNA. If ...

Re: Marginal wind kites ?

Since we're talking about marginal wind kites, how would a large single skin kite function for hydrofoiling? Obviously if dropped in the water that is game over, but that's not unusual anyway in light winds. If it works at 5kts for snowkiting, how much more would be needed for hydrofoiling? https://...

Re: Double Agent vs Alien Air/H4 to start & progress with?

I've used the DA 145 quite a bit without the foil when traveling. That wouldn't be my first choice at home, but when traveling, that definitely saved the day. You just have to not have crazy high expectations of performance in the surf, but it's pleasant, and with a bit of adaptation it feels OK. Su...

Re: The stagnant foiler.

I'd say, don't worry. Just remember why you foil / kite. For me it's all about being out there, and foiling surely does provide more days on the water. I probably don't learn something new, some days are far from being epic, but even then I still enjoy the feeling of gliding over water, zooming up a...

Re: too light to drift downwind?

(...) It is no problem dragging to the hydrofoil on its side IMO, take longer of course, but if you do it like you would with a TT upside down t.ex, it will work just fine :thumb: The lightness and ability to waterstart faster by far outweighs the extra time you sometimes need to bodydrag. 8) PF Ex...

Re: Dolphins

It definitely happens more often to see dolphins when foiling than when kitesurfing, it could be just due to the fact that we ride further out where they feed, and we just cover more miles overall, but there is probably also something with the noise of the foil that tickles their curiosity and they ...

Re: selfish short term kite industry

Attracting kids into the sport was always a challenge since companies never bothered providing gear suitable for them. It's only in recent years that manufacturers started to offer very small size kites, not deliberately targeting the kids market, but filling the needs of surfboard riders and mostly...

Re: Upgrading my Double Agent

I did drill two extra holes at the back to bolt a Zeeko (B&W, Carver, then Spitfire) foil on it. Big cup washers and 8mm bolts, washers and hex nuts and it was great. That board is nice low volume, bomb proof, and still reasonably usable on its own without a foil. Good option for travelling. Could b...
