Re: Flysurfer recommendation?

If money isn't much of a concern, I'd go with an 11m Sonic. If you're freeriding mostly and love hang time, it's perfect. A little to handle with launching and not as forgiving as the Speed5, but you'll figure it out quickly since overall it is still user friendly for an experienced rider. It will d...

Re: Fine tuning my FS Pulse2

Hey - I'm from Alberta too and ride at Keho all the time. I wouldn't shorten your lines. To tune up a Pulse2, given that it's an older kite and must have some time on it, you should do a mixer test and look at whether it's time to replace the pulley lines. On that model, turning is better if you pul...

Re: check out this video

Fly the kite in and land, then fix it. This is the kind of thing that leads to accidents, especially if someone new to kiting tries it or if it's attempted close to others and something goes wrong. Just because it can be done doesn't mean it should be done.

Re: Waist Harness Problems

Another thing you could try is using an impact vest. I have a Dakine Surface vest and the harness cut out for it keeps my waist harness in place.

Re: Ocean Rodeo Go-Joe , or reel leash?

I came close to drowning because of a leash, and it was a reel leash too. I was fairly new to kiting and fell off my board and ended up putting my kite into the power zone only slightly. Really, it was not a hard loop through the power zone, but just a little dip. The kite pulled me downwind and my ...

Re: Ram Airs crash in 2014

...If Fred had an inflatable, he would have been able to "self-rescue" by grabbing the tips and "sailing" to shore. ...Also, towing a ram air to shore is like towing a sleeping bag full of water - difficult and dangerous. Foils float really well. The Chrono actually comes with velcro tips to assist...

Re: Something new from Ozone

Very excited for this kite! I love my Flysurfers, but competition is good. Great validation for the closed cell foil segment too. PMU will be very disappointed.

Los Angeles - spots, rules?

I'll have the pleasure of being in LA off and on over the next few months, staying mostly in the Playa Vista area. Can anyone tell me where the best spots are and what the local rules are? Any spots off limits?

Thanks!

Are they back in business now? http://www.ginkites.com/news/latest-news

I've handled one before and the construction quality was outstanding. Too bad I didn't get to fly it.
