Bolting metal to metal tended to get unscrewed and shaken apart no matter what I...

Re: Temperature and edging on ice.

edt: Really cool board you have there. The picture is dark, though. Do you have any better ones? I experimented with blades and skateboard trucks with a windsurfing sail before I took up kites. Hardwater Kiter: I envy the locations and ice conditions you have up there in The Free State. Thanks for t...

Temperature and edging on ice.

I have come to realize that temperature plays a very large role in how well your ski or snowboard edge can get bite on the ice. A couple of weeks ago I was in Minnesota, and the high temperatures were in the low single digits. It was hard to get an ice screw into the ice, and it was hard to maintain...

Re: snow kiting - which is better? skies or board?

I created this chart as an answer. Skis vs. snowboard is an individual choice, based on style and abilities, terrain, purpose, and surface conditions. I hope this will help. If anyone makes any suggestions, I would be happy to add them to the chart. SkisvsSnowboard2.png I do both, usually depending ...

Re: Soloshot3 a New way to film kiting

Mine seems to be working pretty well. I didn't get to ride today because my drysuit is out of commission, but I got a friend of mine to wear the tag. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5FOYJoYtXQI I shouldn't have extended the tripod as high, since the wind shook it a lot. But otherwise the video is pre...

Self foiling.

How often does the board just go foiling away from you on its own? It happened to me just a bit the other day. https://www.facebook.com/saulius.muliolis/videos/1352417841548361/ I have seen a video where a guy was going to do a downwinder starting at cliffs, and had his GF toss the board out. The bo...

Re: Soloshot3 a New way to film kiting

I should have added a weight to the tripod. That would have made it much steadier. As to the video quality, I thought the default setting was 4k, but it turns out I was recording in 1080p, and then I cropped it. There are settings for wider or narrower field of view, and framing. Instructions that w...
