How to build a carbon wing in a 2 part mold?

Ok. I’ve made my two part mold (using this as a guide: http://easycomposites.co.uk/#!/composites-tutorials/how-to-make-complex-split-multi-part-mould-for-composites). Where I’m struggling is understanding. 1. How to determine the required size of each layer of carbon. 2. How to cut carbon cloth to t...

Re: What wood for mast core?

I would go for Paulownia if you can get it, with Western Red Cedar as a close second. Obviously you want to have the wood fully sealed so you get no water penetration. However if water does somehow get into contact with the wood core (eg through a leading edge collision with debris) Paulownia will c...

Re: GoPro post production Horizon Leveling

@ The Captain. Thanks for the response. Gave Horizon Fixer a go but only seems to have 15 degrees of authority.

@ kite_hh. Thanks. Will give it a go.

GoPro post production Horizon Leveling

I'm looking for a method of Horizon levelling in the editing stage of footage from a GoPro session 5. I know there is potential to do this using the metadata stored with the footage but I'm no software geek, so this is currently beyond me :( All I'm initially after is something to smoothly translate...

Re: Balance question - before I get my drill out....

One other point is the front foot hook places your front foot further back than straps would.
I suspect that with this setup you are always going to find it difficult with the mast in the more forward position.

Re: vac pump (a fridge compressor) problem

Downunder, I would be a bit cautious about regularly running a fridge compressor ‘dry’ overnight. My understanding is that in normal use the refrigerant provides some circulating lubricant. As previously stated, I periodically squirt some oil in the inlet pipe. To prevent spitting oil, the exhaust h...

Re: Ketos G10 Stabilos

Peter, thanks for your input. You’ve got too many toys! Interesting that you cut down a stab. What did you do, if anything, to seal the ends? (I assume the carbon wings have a foam core as they are so light) Maybe I’ll try Sending steph66 a PM. I notice in the credits at the end of his latest video ...

Ketos G10 Stabilos

Just wondered if anybody had any experience with the new (?) Ketos G10 stab wings and how they compare with their carbon counterparts? In particular comparison with the Carbon Stabilos M with Stabilos G10 380. I’m hoping they provide similar pitch characteristics but with more yaw agility (due to be...
