Technique gets you upwind better than anything. Lots of rocker will slow you down simply because you are "pushing" water unless you can get onto the tail end of the board, which wont happen in light winds. stringy it can happen very easily... I was riding down the line on a good sized wave, lines went slack during a turn and one line snagged. I can post you a photo of it if you like. Yes a good sharp Knife works, however a deflated kite is even better.

The Takoon Pure, what a load of Pure crap. They loved to fall out the sky and Takoons fix was a banana shaped bit of plastic to put in the trailing edge strut. !!!
