Re: How To Self-Land a Kite in High Winds

In that kind of wind I’d try this first (especially if kite is still dry and you don’t want a birds nest):- Assuming you have a good-sized area of beach – for plan B below, just in case! – Bring kite to side of window on the beach about 3m off the ground, steer the kite hard to the ground and immed...

Re: How To Self-Land a Kite in High Winds

I would suggest that instead of just releasing, you fly the kite to the window, steer it down (possibly grabing both front lines for an impulse), then pull the upwind frontline to properly touch the kite down. Then proceed as you described

We bought a Jester for my wife to learn on, and I loved it so much I bought one for myself. Rides smoother and faster than the Vanguard.
Are you sure about the "faster" part of your statement?

Re: Takoon furia phi, good for big air.

It's a very different kite than your old waroo. It will turn MUCH faster, and the feeling on the bar is ways more direct. I like the furias a lot in the medium and smaller sizes, they are incredibly dynamic. For big air, they are excellent for height (go really fast, then with a strong impulse stear...

Don't see any picture, Toby. For me it's just a black square. Also no action when clicking. Can you fix?

Re: The lightest snappiest surfboard for overhead waves?

as @knotwindy says, try the FW Vader. Personally, I would go for the kite version, because you will end up jumping it ;) , and double overhead is not too light on the material either :D

Re: Sri lanka july august

Good summary, Hendrik :thumb: A couple of additional details: * Kalpitiya Lagoon has a quite small area that is really flat (behind the Sandbar with the kiteschool). Depending on the day, it can get a bit crowded there. But there is the whole rest of the lagoon that is a bit more choppy, but nice fo...

Re: Sri Lanka Bentota any good?

Time of the year is certainly right - if there is a windy season there, it's now. This said, the further South you go, the less wind you can expect during South West Monsoon. I have no idea if there is any rental equipment in Bentota. Depending on how long you have for kiting, you could bring your s...

Re: Wheres good for summer waves?

@BrianMaiden: Check your facts and read carefully before you start a pissing match. I'm NOT promoting Kalpitiya, ok? If you do your homework, you will find that I said in many instances that Kalpitiya has no waves. I'm talking about KANDATHODUWA. Kandathoduwa is 40 km South of Kalpitiya, and gets SW...
