Re: Chinese KB Hydrofoil : 300 USD + shipment

Frankly I am a bit surprised that such a patent gets granted since the principle of foil underneath a (kite/wind)surfboard was already common at the date of filing. My Mitu convertible does not differ significantly from a surfboard. So the simple fact that the same setup is used with a different so...

Re: Brazil wave sailing

There are quite a few spots between Taiba and Paracuru that can have great waves. I would seek out a guide with local knowledge because you will spend a lot less time trying to figure out where the spots are...they change pretty radically in the different tides..IMO a car is a must for those spots.

Re: Chinese KB Hydrofoil : 300 USD + shipment

Gunnar, you are just guessing. Why is everything such a conflict? You cannot possibly say that GoFoil was first with anything. Surf foils existed for years before it. You do not think different companies can work fine side by side? Maybe they tried to get a deal, but Aguera got a better deal somewhe...

Re: Self-teaching

This is an important reason you shouldn't teach yourself. At a lot of beaches, it feels like a matter of "when not if" someone does something stupid and gets kiting banned from that spot. I sympathise with everyone who feels the pain of the cost of kiting, but lessons are the smaller part of the co...

Re: Self-teaching

I taught kiting from 2003-2009 or so, and still occasionally teach friends for free. If you are trying to do it on your own: 1. Get a trainer kite and really practice alot 2. Watch instructional videos and read all about learning to kite 3. Buy a setup including an appropriately sized kite for your...

those 100cm wide raceboards are such dogs in chop, they nearly shake your legs off. Not fun! They are made to go fast if you aren't allowed to use a hydrofoil in a race not for comfort.
haha, well I kind of enjoed that part of the raceboards.

Re: best SUP for super light wind kiting

I've kited a SUP. I mean as a dumb / fun / drunk thing to do on a super light day just to have tried it...sure. As anything you actually want to do, then NOPE! Know there are a ton of different SUPs. For instance the smallest SUP I have ever owened is a 7'0'', and it wasn't that wide. To kite that i...

Re: Pivot Unbaised Review. Good Kite For Surf?

Question - manual says you must deflate the struts by opening the the valve on the struts? There is no workaround to make it so you can just open the main deflate valve & have the whole kite deflate? Seems like a pain. w Just in general, and this would hold for any kite. Leaving the valves in for a...
