Why? - Obviously to assert that your knowledge and experience is superior to others with a different opinion

Re: WOO Device

I work with smartphones. You are not going to see 9 axis sensors in a phone soon for this application. Must have been a while back TomW... Samsung GSx have had 3axis mag + accel + gyro since version 3 - and they are certainly not the only ones... Most high end Android phones have these sensors alon...

Re: Erosion experience question

The school my kids go to has an annual dune planting program that has been in place for 16 years. Every year we go down to our local beach access way and plant 500 dune plants along the edges of the dune within approx 500 yards either side. Four years ago a marker posts were placed to help measure d...

Re: Kitesurfing Footage from a Drone

Maybe in the future, or with something gas powered... phantom's battery lasts about 5 minutes with a gopro attached to it. you can get a rig so you can attach 2-4 batteries at once but even that increases the weight and further reduces the battery life so the idea of setting it up to follow you aro...

Re: Max wind a quadcopter can handle? Yes, to shoot riders!

Hi Alex, I have made some progress on this but unfortunately have not had as much time as I would have liked... I have a Ublox gps module with integrated antenna attached to an Arduino Nano and 433MHz transmitter along with a lipo battery. The whole setup is approximately half the size of a cigarett...

Re: Do the wings even need to be aerofoil shaped?

some people think you have to have a curved upper surface of a wing for it to generate lift. This is obviously untrue. Stick your hand out the window while you are driving the car and tilt it up. Your hand will be pushed up. That is lift. It is caused by the angle of attack of your hand to the wind...

Re: Do the wings even need to be aerofoil shaped?

the foil must generate lift. a doubt 'flat' will generate enough lift to make you smile. i'm not an engineer but i have slept in a Holiday Inn Express. This is not true. Check out any angle of attack / lift coefficient diagram for instance here's one with a cesna and british jet edt, please pardon ...
