Re: What are the best sized kiteboard fins for staying upwin

in my mind it depends on the rocker and conditions agreed that fins don't help much under an efficient board shape in ideal conditions but going from 1.5 to 2 on a smaller twintip with decent rocker would make quite a difference in a beginner's ability to move upwind imho that extra traction also he...

Re: why kiteboarding will never become popular

"Hey I saw you kitesurfing it looks like fun. Can I buy a board and kite from you, here's $25" "What? You say it costs more than $25. Ok then I'll rent it, here's $5." "What are you talking about I can't rent it without taking lessons first. Well, I have five minutes before I have to leave. Why don...

Re: To California Kiters : help, need for Travel info

Yeah, usually I travel with 12 and 9, but I'm trying to reduce luggage weight as much as possible, that's why I'd like to check eq. rental option as well. Last year, domestic US flights, charged me so much, that with the same amount I'd be able to get a one week equipement rental.... is the same ol...

Re: Alaia advice

thanks for the reply, helpful. what kind of wood did you use? my experiment was in overpowered conditions and i kept it hard on the edge, probably made pearling less of an issue. i can imagine lighter wind more challenging for that it also seemed to flex under my weight to the point that it created ...

Alaia advice

Anyone out there with experience kiting on an Alia? I've got an 8 foot alaia board (Wegner, solid paulownia wood, fish tail) that i attempt to surf every once and a while with mixed results. I took it out under my kite this weekend just to see if i could make it work... and it was awesome. I was ama...

Re: Upwind issues.

you need a bigger board. once you learn what it takes the one you have will work, but it's sooo much easier to learn on a bigger board then move smaller to master the technique.

Re: twin tip v directional

i say switch it up. i ditched my twintip after a few sessions and was much happier learning on one of my old surfboards. ymmv, but i think there's something to be said about riding what you know while figuring out kite control.

Re: How to bottom turn?

@Peter thanks for your time and explanation but i still dont understand how you manage your kite in the bottom turn, probably my fault :) Lets say im riding down the wave going to shore, side-on wind coming from the left. My kite is positioned 45º to shore, at 1.30 aproximately. Now i want to do th...
