Re: Shinn Jackson foil 120

Anybody know how much this board weighs? I can't find it in the specs. Looks like a fun board. I have the 120 and mine weighs about 3,5 kg. As Mark already mentioned it is really very durable, no comparison to lighter carbon boards, i've already owned. Touchdowns are no problems, as you can see in ...

Re: Mast vs wing placement

I have a custom foil and mast position in the fuselage was identical with the LF foilfish: the rear edge of the mast was exactly in the middle of the fuselage. This worked well. Recently i drilled one more hole in the fuselage and mounted the mast 4 cm more frontward (mast's leading edge is now appr...

Re: 8mm G10 for front wing?

^^ Harri. Many thanks for that. Those wings have a pretty large surface areas (larger than the norm, i think?). Is this, I wonder, to compensate for the lower lift from the thin profile? No, nothing due to the thin profile! On my homespot we have mostly winds with 8-12 knots, i'm weighing 95 kg, wi...

Re: 8mm G10 for front wing?

Enclosed the outline of both frontwings. One has 60 cm span, the other 62,5 cm. Also attached the outline of the rearwing. I would prefer the frontwing with 60 cm due to the straight trailing edge, just easier to work with. I just cut it out of the plate. Then profiled it with a belt sander (80-100)...

Re: 8mm G10 for front wing?

8mm is OK! I've done 2 sets of wings 1 year ago. They still work really fine, by now ca. 60 sessions without any problems. Both frontwings out of 8mm G10 FR4 as you said. Measurements 61 x 16 cm. They are for example stiffer than wings from Alpine Foil (5.0 Access). Thea are really hard to bend!!! T...

Re: Compstick trim conversion.

I love the trim below the bar and it's no problem to trim while riding. BUT: it's important to pull towards your body, almost parallel to the Depowerline. If you pull even in an small angle to the side, it's almost impossible to trim while riding. AND: make sure that your depower is always pulled ab...

Re: LF Happy Foil + pill or Slingshot alien air + zeeko blue and white

Oh man, LF mast alone is 2.2 kg (2016 model). Fuselage is another 1.16 kg. The later is a solid chunk of aluminum -- can you imagine dumber design? Hollow piece would have been as strong but shed half the weight... Speaking of lack of attention to detail, the front wing leading edge is [relatively]...

Re: SS Dwarfcraft or LP Maverick

Dut to weight i would go for the 99cm Maverick.
Not only for traveling, you will also like it cause of less swinging weight in turns!

Re: really small foil boards < 100 cm

Thanx all for your replies! Gybing both sides without touchdowns is no problem for me. I've already a rather small board, 135 x 44 cm, no volume, pls see picture. So why such a short board? 1st for travelling, and 2nd i hope that i can gybe much more radical and 360's get also more radical and narro...
