Re: Kiting in 50-60 knots

Basic factor - I've been out windsurfing in some very heavy winds, which are frequent where I live: usually 40 knots plus. I believe I have experienced 50 knot winds about 3 or 4 times. The experiences have been highly varied, depending on sea type (enclosed bay, large swell or flat water). One basi...

Re: 2014 Ozone Reo

Reply to Stephduche - I got the Reo for several reasons put them in the order you want: 1. Better service from my national distributor and local Ozone shop. 2. I did a good deal with my local shop, which I like to support anyway. 3. Goldilocks: the Dice felt reeeeally good but the Reo '14 felt 'just...

Re: 2014 Ozone Reo

I agree with everything Soar has said in his excellent write up. I got a test on the 12m Reo and bought one - despite economic stress - 3 sessions later. I can get going in 12 knots but 14k is better (79 kilos on a surfboard) had it out in a 12k moisture-laden wind today and was mowing the lawn and ...

Re: New toy: Hybrid Skim/Surf with egg design

I dunno, I'm riding a Whip right now and I'm not sure I'd want anything skatier. Don't trust the videos - you could put Sky Solbach on a fridge door and he'd be pulling off strapless airs after 20 minutes...and he'd film it, put a North sticker on it, market it and we'd all want one. Got to say, I'd...

Re: North whip 2012

Damn, I just pressed the wrong button and now this is in a topic of its own. Newbie probz....anyway.... Just like to add a comment regarding the sizes of the North Whip - I'd choose a size smaller than the size you think you need. The flotability of the Whip is excellent and you can take out a much s...

Re: Dissapointed by North quality

For what it's worth... I've had manufacturer problems with Naish and Ozone. It's down to luck more than anything else. The best thing to do is contact the shop you got the kite from, cite the kite reference number and at least inform North or your local distributor that there may be a 'bad batch' - ...

Size my Whip

Just like to add a comment regarding the sizes of the North Whip - I'd choose a size smaller than the size you think you need. The flotability of the Whip is excellent and you can take out a much smaller size than you would with another type of board. I bought the 2011 big Whip for light wind weighin...
