If you are riding strapless, just find a used cheap surfboard about the right volume and ride it till it breaks. Repeat as necessary until you find the shape you like. Then buy a better more expensive board.

The other difference I have noticed is if the rope slider goes all the way to the hip you do lose some depower when toeside. If you are really wound up, it makes a difference. You have to shorten the rope slide or use the trim strap more.
