Re: Cabrinha Contra vs. Core XR5 15 m

I own a Core XR 15 but it's an XR2, so take the opinion for what it's worth. I originally bought the 17, than I switched to the 15 because on our lakes it's often gusty and I felt the 17 really frightening sometimes. There's a difference in the very low range between the two (maybe one knot), but wh...

Re: What is the international signal for "Abort launch"?

In our home spot the launch area is extremely tricky. The kiter stays in chest high water while the helper is on the top of a public tiled promenade where people and bikers transit all the time. So the procedure for the helper is: kindly stop the people (and always thank them after launching), wait ...

Re: FS Speed5 - not getting on with it

I own a Bronq XL 150x50 that is I think very similar to the King Gee and it's a killer in light winds. This board has the feeling of a standard sized TT but lets you ride in no wind, never feels too big, it's really a miracle, nothing to compare with the classic door (I also own a Flying Carpet) tha...

Re: Lake Garda or Lake Como for Kiteboarding

Hi Joan, consider 8 to 15/16 knots average. It happens that it's blowing 20 or 25 (yesterday) but it's not so common. In that case, you can rent a small kite or board in one of the kite centers. You can check this link: http://www.centrometeolombardo.com/content.asp?ContentID=6552&ContentType=Stazio...

Re: Tube vs Softkite - an epic battle?

Many of us live in sharks infested waters as well ;) Downunder you really made my day! This is an argument that we italian lakers, where the biggest fish is 30 cm., could never imagine! But you're perfectly right, in shark infested waters relaunch time IS an issue!! Back to the topic, I think the a...

Re: Need advice for beginner - kite size

Hi Rob. Imo you'd better look for something else. First of all, the Vegas is absolutely not a beginner kite. It's a kind of C kite very good for freestyle and unhooking, that's the reason why it does not have a very huge wind range. Second, a 2009 kite is really old. It can still be in excellent con...

Re: Lake Garda or Lake Como for Kiteboarding

Hi, I'm a Como lake local. In Garda lake the wind, especially in the early morning, the wind is for sure better. The problem is that you have to book a taxi boat (and book it early during weekends!), since it's possible to kiteboard only in the southern part of the lake in the region Lombardia. In t...

Re: Kite company's are out of their minds

Market rulez. If something is too expensive for its value (for "value" I mean its attractiveness for the customer, not the actual physical value) it will for sure end its life shortly. If they can sell a bar for 490 bucks, it means there are customers ready to shell out the money.
